Not sure if it will help with an aftermarket, but I had this issue with my factory hood. The bracket on the core can be shimmed with a washer to help it. It fixed the issue for me, but again this was on a factory hood. Check out this thread...

Watching the Tour De France, and the mountain stages look like a driving dream. Not just the roads, but the back drops too. With how small the roads are at times I would imagine traffic might be an issue occasionally. None the less, I wish I ship my car over and carve up some of those passes.
