Overflow tank question...

I just picked up a 91' coupe this weekend and it has a detour radiator on it with dual fans. Well since its soo much bigger than the stock one the overflow tank doesn't fit anymore. Im ordering a smaller tank but I was wondering until it gets here if it's safe to just put a cap over the overflow spout for the time being? Anyone Done this before?

You can, but once its up to operating temp, the coolant will expand and overflow onto the ground.

But won't the cap block the coolant from coming out?

The pressure will over come the rubber cap where the overflow tube to tank goes.

While you are waiting for a tank to arrive , run the overflow hose to a 1quart plastic pop bottle .
This will allow the cooling system to continue to work properly .

I was Getting To order a new for My Foxbody.

I were thinking About ordering A Moroso Tank from A.M. but I Am Worried About Fitment Issues?
