just picked up a gotta have it green boss, car is awesome to drive. its a 2013 completely stock, i noticed when going wot or getting up to speed quickly the car seems to hesitate/stumble for a second and then take off fine regardless of what gear im in. its kinda like traction control is on but its turned off. car acts this way regardless of which key i use and tcs is on or off. i only use 93 octane, traction control off, no codes, car idles fine, afr normal, temps normal. car has factory tune.

anyone else experience this? is this a tuning issue? car has 25,000 miles.

i cant find any leaks............kinda hard to explain what the feeling is like, its like cruising along and a huge semi-truck pulling a trailer passed by you and you feel all the wind hit you and your car kinda surges. thats what i feel when i accelerate.

My 2 coworkers both have surging if they walk it up vs stabbing the pedal. They had it on the stock tune and on their current Lund tune. Not sure if that is what you mean

so they have surging when walking it up and stabbing?
do they have canned tunes or custom tunes?
im thinking about taking the car to justin at vmp and seeing what he can do.

I had a hesitation on my car with the silver key at certain part throttle situations. I drive with the track key so I haven't felt it since. But it was only with light throttle applications. Anything more than 20% throttle has never had any issues with either key/tune.

got a dyno tune scheduled for 1/18 with vmp tuning, hope they fix the issue.......after driving the car more today, the bucking/surging is much worse with the engine cold between 2000-3000rpm and when the engine is warm or cold in 4th gear at around 2300rpm and keep it there you can feel the car keep hesitating until you get higher in the rpms and even the exhaust sounds different, like it wanted to backfire.. no issue in 5th or 6th gear. i think its tune related, car is to new to be something serious..........i hope

Same here the stock tune on these cars is garbage, i just got my AED tune and love it. I also had the red key factory tune on my car and dont miss it. Launch control was cool but not needed. Shaun advised against running the Red Key tune for the car, maybe there is a reason they discontinued it.

after driving the car with the track key it actually drives fine with no surging or hesitation, but the silver key is junk in my opinion. actually figured something mechanical was wrong with car, but im starting to think its just the crappy tune installed on the silver key since the track key runs great.

My car drives great with the track key. The silver key has some slight surging at low rpm.

Did he get into any reasons why not to use the track key tune? I use it every time I drive my Boss. I did read somewhere that the ghost cam idle in most tunes can burn out the cats over time. I was under the impression it was ok with the track key as the idle is very mild.

I believe that Shaun told me that the red key makes our cars run dangerously lean is why he doesn't like them......I believe...don't quote me though

I'll look back through my emails with him but I think he was talking about it running lean on the top end in the upper rpm's for extended periods of time...like if someone was tracking the car

My Boss did that for about the first 3000 miles. The it went away. I thought it had something to do with the ECU and my driving. I usually just drove it around town and when I would get on it on the freeway that's when it would do it. So I disconnected my battery and reset it and the drive it like I stole it from there on out. Almost 39k on it and haven't had it happen again.

got the car dyno tuned and with the normal cruising and casual driving most of the surge is gone when im in 3rd or 4th gear, but sometimes ill get a stumble/surge in 4th or 3rd gear if i hold the rpms at 2500-3000 and then go wot from there. doesnt seem to do it in any other gear. possibly the drive by wire junk???????? wish we had throttle cables. tried to datalog, but its so intermittent its hard to do. anyone every tried jms pedalmax? http://www.jmschip.com/pedalmax-2011-2015-ford-vehicles/
