Prolly because the motor is not original, as well as solid axle Swap. Doesn't help this time of year either.

Agreed. I think it is due to the unknowns surrounding the engine swap and the SRA. Personally I think the IRS is one of the defining components of the Terminator and without it the car loses a key aspect to its uniqueness. Now I fully understand the drag racer that feels the need to put lots of power down and wants the SRA but I am not one who would build a drag racer from a Cobra, but that's just me.

As for the "CO tax", sure with only 281 coupes, it's there. The color for me was a way to raise leukemia awareness in memory of my wife's battle and honestly I had no idea it was so rare until I started looking for one.

FWIW, I paid less than what they're asking for my convertible and it had just under 20K miles when purchased. So they are certainly asking "all the money" in my opinion.

Competition Orange really isn't THAT rare of a color if you look at total Mustang production (V6, GT, Mach 1, Cobra). All four models were produced with this color to the tune of 6,426 total Mustangs for the 2004 model year.

Mystichrome, while a polarizing color (you either love it or hate it), is probably the most rare as it was only offered on the Cobra models. For some reason, these don't have the notoriety that the CO's do.

YES! Not to take anything away from CO owners, but I see quite a few orange Mustangs when out-and-about. 99% of the orange Stangs I see are of the V6 variety, so whenever I see orange, I immediately think "V6!"

Having said that, I've seen some awesome CO Terminators here. I just wouldn't pay any more for one.

The IRS is a very unique aspect to the Cobra, but with the new Mustangs getting rid of the live axle it seems every Tom, Dick and Harry completely forgot about the 03/04 Cobra setup. I can't tell you how many car reviews I have heard that say "The first Mustang without a live rear axle"... Just bugs me since I know our cars were first haha

How long ago did you buy your 'vert and where/who did you buy it from?

LOL, man that sign is right on time with this thread.

First to the OP; I think it is the price why the car is not selling. Blue book states these cars are only worth almost 17K. Some banks will allow you to borrow up to 120% of the value. That still leaves a potential buyer short of the 30K asking price. And like some others have said this time of year most do not want to spend big money after the holidays.

Second, (to take the turn off in the picture), I will never understand why the "Cobra" enthusiast will make statements like they would NEVER pay high prices for these cars. Why would anyone want to devalue a car they own? Especially if it is rare.

There are plenty of classic cars out there (Yes, I realize the 03/04 Cobras have not reached classic car status yet) that cost 3 to 5 grand new and today they are fetching 3 and 4 times what they originally cost. Granted everything is only worth what someone is willing to pay. And if your not willing to pay then you don't own one.

I'm like that with Ferrari's and Lamborghini's. They might cost 6 figures, but I would NEVER pay that much for one and that's why I don't own one LOL.

While our Terminators had IRS before the S550, they were not "first." The 99 Cobra holds that honor. My 2000 Cobra R also has IRS.

What CAN be said about the S550 is it is the first Mustang to have IRS across all variants.

That car will not sell. mark my words. its got an MMR engine too. its a ticking time bomb. ask me how I know. that and the solid axle swap will turn a lot of people away. I have half the mind to call the dealership and ask if I can buy it as a roller. I DO NOT want to be anywhere near that MMR engine.

sounds about right...people don't want a rebuilt motor or a rebuilt car

I've been outta the Terminator game for awhile so I ask this question with sincere ignorance, why the MMR hate?

I'm in for MMR horror story, lol.

Your best bet would be to do some searching on Google. The info is out there. I've personally seen 3 MMR engines go out. Only one they took care of under warranty. And that's because the cars owner had them do all the work. From pulling the engine to dropping the new one in. They had no one else to blame.

Oh I know they're out there I just always enjoy reading them. The last ones I had seen on SVTP (only modmotor place I frequent) were real foggy on details but the OP was claiming the parts inside the motor weren't what he paid for and that he was scammed. Thats the last I had read, I never followed up on the thread to see the outcome but it was an interesting read.

Then you'd love knowing that one of the other engines I know of had a valve train noise at start up. To be honest I don't remember if they installed the heads or if a mechanic did. But they blamed the noise on a piece of RTV making it from the pan to the head and plugging one of the passages to a couple lash adjusters.

Gotta agree... Way over priced for a car with replacement motor and a SRA swap. That car is going to sit for a long time.

I have almost $10,000 tied up with MMR and my car has not survived one dyno day. MMR did a long block for me so all we did was close the engine up. valve covers, etc. My car has been down for the better part of 3 years. The engine went back to MMR a total of 3 times for "Warranty Repair" and the last time definitely took the cake. I will keep his name out of this but "He" told me X,Y and Z were going to be replaced with new parts and I will have the engine back soon. well when I got the engine back what was promised to be replaced with a new part was just "Fixed." I was promised a new piston since valve springs kept on failing resulting in the valve making contact with the piston and all MMR did was sand the top of the piston.
