Hi guys,

Just recently my exhaust note has changed and now sounds muffled. I have an SLP catback with magnaflow catted x pipe. The car has no problem running and doesn't feel like it has any power issues. What could I be dealing with here?

Thanks

Is there a way to test to see which would be the problem rather than crawling underneath the car and start taking things apart?

I would tap with a rubber mallet, see if it narrows down. Captain obvious here, but check all clamp connections.

I've checked all connections and they seem tight. I've also done the above to feel for exhaust restriction and don't really feel a difference.

I've read you can try a infrared thermometer to check temps pre and after the cat.

Ok...i recently had the fuel pump die on me as well. Could it be the fuel filter?
Also I hooked up my scanner to read what the O2's were doing and they seemed to be working properly which would maybe indicate its post x pipe.

Most likely it's partially clogged/melted cats. It's not often that mufflers cause a restriction, when they fall apart inside, they get louder.

We agree. this usually points to the catalytic converter element becoming clogged or broken, but you will have to pull them off to see whats going on for sure. Drop us a PM if we can help!

If you do end up needing to replace the cats, we offer a few different universal and direct-fit replacement options that are 49-state legal, and much more affordable than new OE units. Drop us a PM if we can help!

Do you guys offer a warranty claim on your products? I don't remember when i bought the X pipe but it doesn't have many miles on it since i rarely drive the car.
