Mcleod Clutch problems

Recently had a McLeod 26 spline street twin clutch kit, Tremec 26 spline input shaft, LP throwout bearing, Ford pilot bearing, and a UPR quick click firewall adjuster installed by a reputable speed shop. Drove the required 500 mile break in period. Now when I go into boost there is an abrupt jolt followed by a loss of power for a few seconds. I know absolutely nothing about clutches but it feels like the clutch discs are not holding the power and letting loose. I have a VMP supercharger with about 600 rear wheel HP. The problem is I live about 200 miles away from the shop that did the work. My question is, is there an adjustment I can make without returning the car to the shop 200 miles away? Any input would be much appreciated.

Stupid question but do you have your traction control disabled? If not, that could be the culprit. First time I dropped into second and floored it to try and pass someone I almost got killed when the traction control shut me down.

Initially I thought that was the problem, but it's not. It pisses me off so much I'm afraid to race other cars on the street. I guess I'll make the trip back to Dallas and make the shop fix it.

Unless the rpm shoot up without the car accelerating, I'd say that this doesn't sound like a clutch issue. Try and get a video of the issue for us. Much easier to diagnose the problem that way.

McLeod advises against using a UPR clutch quadrant so I would replace it with a Maximum Motorsports unit.

Did they give a reason why? It's hard to mess up a chunk of aluminum. The biggest thing with the aftermarket quadrants is making sure they're aligned to the clutch cable IMO.

OP, Is the power coming back after those few seconds? Or is it gone until you let off? Like Shadow Grey said, if it was the clutch your RPMs would shoot up and you wouldn't go anywhere.

Actually your right Shadow Grey 03, the car seems to throw a hissy fit for a few seconds with shuttering and loss of power then eventually takes off without a huge increase in RPM. Not positive but doesn't seem like rear end is kicking loose. Car never did this prior to clutch install. I also had some Kooks long tube headers and catless X pipe installed at same time. All this happens right when I go into boost.

Did you get a retune for the headers? I know I had to make a couple adjustments when I put the mid lengths on my last car. Also might be worth making sure no wires or vacuum lines are pinched from the install.

Could there be an issue with the tune? It sounds more like an ignition breakup or the AFR being off rather than a clutch-related problem. If possible, take a quick video so we can get some more info on whats going on.

I bet you are lean on tip in or something got knocked loose during the install.

Not sure if your tuner is close or if you have a handheld and laptop and can remote with one of the guys on here. Id probably take a quick 15 min look for pinched wires or vacuum lines off, then consider having the tune checked. Losing the cats and long tubes freed it up a lot.
