Saving weight: Antigravity battery + Morris Engineering

I'm always looking for an excuse to upgrade parts, and a dead battery was the perfect time to put in something better (lighter). After researching my options, I decided upon the Antigravity ATX12-24 with a right positive terminal and saved 24 lbs!

I have to admit I'm really impressed with the battery mount. It easily bolts into the factory location, looks at least as good as OEM, and holds the battery securely because it was designed specifically for Anitgravity batteries. The installation was incredibly simple and Morris Engineering includes everything you need to make things work (hardware and battery terminals).






I also followed their advice about protecting my new battery from heat using the OEM battery blanket. It's not sexy, but neither is killing a $400 battery prematurely. Staple the blanket at a seam to ensure a snug fit

Please keep up updated on this periodically! That is a beautiful bracket and I love the idea of shedding that much weight up high. My car is only driven a few times/month so I am curious about long term use of the small battery.

That bracket IS incredibly nice, and it's almost a shame to hide most of it. I'll absolutely keep this updated and I'm optimistic about the smaller battery. Technology for these has come a long way and I opted for the slightly heavier and more powerful battery, so I'm hoping things will be seamless. My Boss also spends the majority of it's life in the garage, although now I have a Battery Tender for lithium ion batteries to keep things topped off.

that's a hell of an easy way to shed 24lbs..

I really like how it all turned out, really clean and the weight savings are awesome.

This was all in my plans just over a week ago but then out of nowhere my battery took a crap over night and left me stranded before work. Had to spend $150 of my antigravity fund on a regular lead battery as the original wouldn't even jump start

I am definitely gonna grab both of these. Looks great!

How has the battery been holding up, Snake?

Perfectly. It still spins the engine over as fast as the first day and I haven't touched the charger. Car is also still maintaining 13.7-14.1v at all times.

Some of my use:
--300+ miles over 3 days back and forth to work, dinner, etc
--100 miles in one day (car show)
--Started the car a handful of times to move it for maintenance or cleaning (minimal run time)
--And a lot of sitting in the garage

Do the lithium batteries require any special charging equipment in the car, to prevent overcharging, etc?
Or just a tender for when it's sitting a while?

How well do you think it would hold up if you had to crack the car several times to start it with E 85, and does the car feel off balance? I think I remember some saying that a light battery causes the car to pull to one side? True or not true? Thank you.
