Wife and I are in the market for a new truck in the near future. We are considering new only, and the vehicle will be a secondary vehicle. We just bought a new house and cannot make do without a truck any longer.

The only requirements are it has to be 4x4, and it needs a large bed. I personally do not care if its 2 door or 4 door, or what make it is. Also, I need it to tow at least 6,000 lbs. We are looking to spend around $30,000.

I know very little about trucks, but we have been eyeing the new Ram 1500s. Any suggestions/information? Thanks ahead of time.

I really liked my 2014 ram 1500, it was quad cab 5.7 hemi with 3.92 rear, i think max towing was something like 10,200 which was way more than i needed. Paid 26k for it new, but it was only RWD, a 4X4 would have put it right at 30k if im not mistaken.

Whatever you get, get a crew cab. You may not care now but I promise after living with the truck for a little bit you'll be glad you did.

Ford makes the best trucks out there by far, IMO.

Yeah, after owning two different generations of Rams, I'll never own one again.

Chevy colorado?

Come in 4x4 and a "large" bed.

And in that price range new at MSRP anyways.

Edit, you need rear seats or no?

f-150 makes the best truck IMO but they are pricey. Ram can be $5-10k cheaper with equivalent options.

You get what you pay for IMO. Couldn't pay me to drive a Ram they are ridden with problems. If I were in the market i'd buy a CPO F150 if cost was the issue.

when my 2012 f-150 was hit by a driver that had a seizure i was in a rental ram hemi for 3 months straight. Didnt have any issues, it had way more low end torque than my 5.0L and surprisingly got better mpg too.

Now that being said, i wouldnt trade my truck for one. Just saying they arent total POS, especially for people on a budget. F-150s are basically mercedes prices now.

I'd go drive one from each of the big 3, decide which one you like the best, and then buy that one. They're all good trucks and more than capable for what you're looking for. I'm a Ford guy, but had an 07 Ram for years and my dad has it now and it's been a great truck

I had a Ram rental recently. Tow a Mustang with it. I was not impressed with the 5.7 Hemi. I had a 2.7 F-150 that felt stronger towing a heavier trailer. The 2.7 is no joke.

Used Ford F-150 4X4. You won't find a decently equipped one for 30K. More like 50K+ new.
My gardener bought a used lease return F-150 a few years ago. It has only had tires and oil changes done to it. He now has 208000 mile on it. Ugly and beat but it makes him money everyday.
He paid 31K for it at a dealer with a warranty (which he has never needed to use). It's a 2008

I have looked at Dodges from time to time, as I tend to be cheap. They look good on paper, but they just don't seem to hold up. It feels like its been 2 decades of "that used to be a problem, but we fixed it I swear!" I have an 03 Ram 2500 with a Cummins, and other than the engine, its a bucket of poo.

My brother picked up a 4x4 2.7 Ecoboost for lower mid 30's brand new. I like the truck. I thought it would be lame, but honestly its hard to tell on my butt dyno between the 2.7 and 3.5.
