I've crossthreaded (2) lugs in my rear axle. Anybody have a good way to press off/on lugs?
Thanks in advance.

I take an air hammer with a hammer bit to push the old one out. Then put the new one back in the hole, stack up 5-6 washers on the stud and pull the stud flush to the axle with a lug nut using a 1/2" impact.

Air hammer or strong impact wrench will get the lugs off. Defiantly replace the studs. It's very easy to replace them buy hammering out the old ones and pulling the new ones through. I used a wheel stud installer I found on Amazon which made the job super easy. And get some extra lugs...toss the old ones.

I did not see it mentioned, but before you pull the new/replacement stud in, try to line up the knurls of the new stud best as possible with the previous knurls that are already in the axle stud hole. Creating new knurls next to the already displaced metal from the original stud knurls can cause a weak fit in the hole and the stud can eventually round-out/strip the hole in the axle flange..............that is a whole different problem at that point.

Studs popped out no problem, but the new studs I picked up at Oreily's don't have the flat spot on the head of the stud to get past the anti-lock brake ring.
If I can find specific studs I guess I'll file down a flat spot.
Thanks for the tips.

Been there too, on a 1995 Cobra R 8.8 axle. Some studs are larger diameter at the back end than others. I don't remember if I put the larger studs on a grinding wheel? or went to Ford and bought correct studs...........I think I went to Ford. Ford does not want to pay technicians to grind and fit studs in the shop. I think the oem correct Ford studs fit correctly.

Which installer did you buy. I see there's a Lisle and a Kastar kit available on Amazon? ... Thanks.
