Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires

I need to buy a new DD so my wheel/tire budget for the Mustang is taking a hit...I'm researching options in my stock size (track pack wheels) and I found these Firestone Indy 500 tires on Tire Rack for 255/40R19. Link below, hopefully it's allowed.

They look like a pretty good tire, and have pretty great reviews. Two of the reviews are from a CTS-V and a Hellcat so they may withstand some power on the street. Does anybody have any personal experience with these tires?

My car is tuned down to 562 rwhp 485 rwtq right now with the baseline tune from VMP. I'll eventually get them to send a revision or get another tune shooting for 600+/500+

They are the replacement for the Bridgestone RE760 tire. This firestone is the 3rd version later for the brand, and is a Bridgestone tire in Japan. Its a pretty good value tire, with reasonable wet and dry summer traction. It looks good too, which is a plus.

I am considering these as a budget alternative to Michelin PSSs. They seen to get good reviews. If these are good enough ill give them a shot. Or just say to heck with it and buy the PSS and not worry if they are good enough.. My wife will be thrilled.

Just get the MPSS. They're proven and will last a long time. I'll budget buy a lot of things, tires not being one of them.

I came across the firehawks when I was I was looking at MPSS for my new rims. Figured I would give them a try based on the tires origins, reviews and the aggressive pricing. The only concern for me was that they don't come any wider than 285 in a 19. Haven't had the car out since the tires were mounted, so I can't say how well they work but should be able to provide an update in the next month or so

Interesting. Might pick up a set of these in 275 40 18 for my next set of wheels...

I have the indy 500 on my 2011 GT500 and I love them. They were $850 installed locally and they ride and hook up waaaay better than the stock GY F1's.

275/40/18 will look really short in a mustang wheel well. I had them for a long time and it drove me crazy. Also 1-2 shift would buck in parking lots, just don't do it, get something closer to 27"

Insured the car on the weekend and got a chance to put a few miles on the tires. The weather is still a little on the cool side and the tires have that "greasy" new tire feel, so not ideal conditions to test them. What I can say so far, is that they do ride rougher than the MT street comps (same size) that have been on the car for the last 2 years.

I put them on my Shelby. I went with 275/40/19 and 275/40/20 on my SVTPP rims. I replaced a set of Conti DWSs in the same sizes and the Firestones are a lot quieter and a touch stickier. I DD my Shelby and the roads are too damn straight in the Coastal Carolinas so I went for "comfort" with the taller tires. You can't beat them for the price, IMHO.
