I know of a Black Saleen Cobra that is a true and legit '04 Saleen Cobra. It is missing it's motor and transmission and the car is pretty beat. It's been wrecked twice and the frame had to be pushed back out. The car is one of four. The guy has plenty of replacement parts but I don't know the value of something like that when it has been wrecked. I'll try to get some pics of it uploaded later. Would it even be worth it to buy (if he sells) and restore it?

Putting looks aside, anything with frame damage would be a major concern to me. It may be a 1 of 4 but with that history it's lost it's collect-ability point now. Myself, I'd pass unless it was stupid cheap, drove great and you didn't care about future value.

Thanks for your input. I don't even know how much he wants for it

People often get caught up in production numbers and they assume rare = valuable but thats not always the case.

The terminator saleens aren't looked at favorably even in mint condition. They are a car that took the perfect body lines of the cobra and ruined it while offering no real gains over the cobra. To me it'll never be anything special, a nice one might fetch a few more thousand than a regular cobra to the buyer wanting to be unique. I know if I had one id convert it back to a regular cobra.

I agree anytime a car sells for collectors price it has to have 1 or 2 owner history, clean clear title, low miles, matching vin numbers to engine, color etc etc. But if you find the right person it could be worth the world to them. Personally I would stay away unless you just want something cheap to fix up and keep. Or just to make a little money instead of a ton of money.

I agree with others. If you want to build it for yourself then go for it. If you want to restore it and sell it as a Saleen Cobra 1 of 4 car you won't get what you put into it because of it's history. Unless you find a Saleen buff who just has to have it.

That's just my take though.

I'm curious if this was the wrecked black Saleen Terminator on eBay last year? Maybe?

It's possible. The majority of the car was damaged in the front with the rear quarter having a large dent in it. Had seats with grey inserts and the saleen logo on it along with the cobra emblem. It also had a Texas registration sticker on it. I could try and get the VIN

I lol'd at some of the comments. Beauty is definitely in the eyes of the beholder. This is clearly the wrong forum for your questions. Pm me & i'll try to point you in the right direction... But long story short, stay away.

Opinions are like assholes everyone has one. Me I think if it's a GT to a Saleen in 96-98 or 99-04 I like it. But I think Camilo Pardo nailed the design of the 03-04 Cobra the way it is.

A lot of different opinions on here.

First I would like to point out that if its a 2004 Coupe then it is 1 of 3 if its a 2004 Vert then it is 1 of 2, or 1 of 5 total made in black.

Next, the Saleen Cobras do hold their value and are worth and have sold for more than what a typical Terminator will sale for. The Mystichrome Saleens sold for $50k and the private collectors that now own the 2 MC coupes both have been offered a lot more than what they paid for them. The Black ones have sold in the mid $30ks with 30k+ miles on them. So there is a market for them and the more rare colors can bring more money than what they cost, by rare colors for Terminator saleens I mean: Lizstick Red, Rainbow Extreme, Mystichrome, and Comp Orange.

With that being said..... the way you describe this car, it sounds pretty rough. With it having that much history of damage you wont be able to make it have any real value and its going to cost you a lot of money to fix.

If you can get it dirt cheap and you just want a project I say its fine, for return on investment, stay away.

Just my .02 but as long as you have the Saleen engine bay plaque, dash plaque (if it came with one) and the VIN tag's you can rebuild it. The only difference between the 03/04s vs the Saleen Cobras is all in the exterior (ie body kit, magnaflow exhaust, and racecraft shocks, struts, springs. Interior wise it is no different than a Terminator, everything is SVT, nothing Saleen (minus possible dash plaque). The interior was the only reason I didn't purchase an 03 Saleen Cobra coupe.
