I had a 14 gt premium A6 for a while a few years ago and had a SCT x4 with a mike rousch tune on it, i no longer have that car but i still have the SCTx4 with tune on it. I recently just got a deal on a 13 base gt A6 and moved back into a 5.0 and id like to apply the same tune to this car however is this safe to do so or do i need a full retune from mike or similar. The PCM is the same and the tranny and engine are the same, the only changed thing is the DA is different now from where i lived before with the other car. I see no reason why this would be a problem but asking here beforehand.

You would have to get a new tune I believe for your 13 also if you didn't put your 14 back to stock with your x4 then it is locked or married to your 14 .But I would check with sct just to make sure

i returned it back to stock before selling, it is not locked to that car.

Can you provide any data other than just saying that you think you need a new tune?

I have a sct x/3 and if you don't put your car back to the stock setting then the tuner is still locked or married to that car. Also even though it's the same engine i don't think the tune would work for your 13......Me i wouldn't do it but check with sct just to make sure

From what I have read the strategy code / computer has to be the same on both cars even then I wouldn't take a chance in trying it in my car I'm might be wrong as I'm not a tuning expert but i would give sct a call or one of the mail order tuners a call just to make sure

I'm pretty sure you can use the same tune. From what my tuner told me 13/14 cars tune the same, but it won't work on 11/12. I would just check yourself to be 100%

I think it will work as long as both cars have the same computer code and you are using the same handheld. No two cars are alike, I would definitely do some logs even if the car is near bone stock.

Ive sent mike an email, however i know his response rate is often slow. Some valid points brought up so far. I view it as if you got one of the bama tuners and loaded up their street tune on one car, then returned to stock and unlocked and loaded it on another. I can see the 11/12 and 13/14 not meeting up however, even though the engine differences are minor. Guess ill be waiting on mike's response but it might be worth emailing SCT as well.

You can't use tunes on different cars unless they have the same computer code. If the new car doesn't have the same computer code as the old car, then it will not accept the tune.
