I installed one yesterday. Seems like snake oil to me. Other than looking nicer and better build quality, it doesn't seem any different than the stock tensioner. The spring rate "feels" the same as the stocker. I ordered it from BPS, and it came with a 63mm pulley. It's smaller than stock, but the unit as a whole weighs exactly the same according to my scale.

Save your money. I haven't driven the car with it yet, though. Maybe my opinion will change after a hard drive, but I'm not betting on it.

I've got belt slip above 5k rpm in 5th gear. I've been thinking about getting one as i have the 90mm idler and an aux idler and don't know what else to do.

Yeah, I was having some nasty belt slip up there, too. In my case, adding an aux idler for more belt wrap solved my issue. The stock tensioner seemed to be fine. I did need to replace it, though, because the cheap socket cracked, and I had to use a ratchet strap to loosen the tension whenever I did anything with the belt. I installed a Gates Racing blue belt last year.

I could've just bought another OEM tensioner, but figured I might as well upgrade it. Plus, I wanted to complete the set of BPS lightweight pullies. If anyone else is thinking about getting a tensioner, just get the VMP one for cheaper.

Interesting because I installed mine about two months ago and it is incredibly harder. I mean even with a 1/2-inch breaker bar, I have to slip a pipe over it, extending the length to loosen it enough to install the belt. I even had a friend over once and had him try it too and he said the same thing......

Whatever way you go to get rid of your belt slip, it's going to be like you have a different engine afterward. I never realized how much power I was losing up top because of belt slippage until I put a new belt on and added the aux idler. The thing pulls like a beast up top now. It still pulled before, but I could feel the power begin, not tapering off, but loosening(? for lack of a better word) at between 5K - 5.5K up to the red line. Afterward, there would be the smell of rubber, and there was always rubber deposits collecting on the blower pulley. Now the only deposits are road dust. I wish I could install my belly pans.

I have a lot of deposits collecting around my upper pulley, was told I definitely need a tensioner, by a Steeda tech in SFL. Haven't gotten around to buying one yet though...

Run a Thump unit on both cars.
I look @ it like insurance, in place of the pot metal looking POS stock tensioner.
I watched a video of a tensioner in action, those things really earn their keep..

I bought one for belt slip... it didn't cure the belt slip.

Found out one of my idler pulleys bearings was borked after replacing that no more slip.

It's a nice pretty tensioner though :)
