Been going back and forth and I think I may possibly want to stay NA with this car. I want to get 520-530 whp out of a NA build if I do it. Anyone can give me a noobs guide as to what I would need to do. Thanks in advance

A LOT of motor work. Probably talking...full cobra jet setup with monoblade throttle body, bigger injectors for e85, custom grind cams, great tuning, at least aluminum driveshaft if not carbon fiber, light weight flywheel, or a stroker kit for our engine. I'm trying for around 500 without running cams. Oh and billet oil pump gears

Cobrajet manifold (preferably ported)
Monoblade, twin 67, or twin 72mm tb
longtube headers and catless midpipe
comp stage 3 or custom grind cams (may have to use limiters or lockouts and sacrifice some low end)
Ported heads and/or e85
Injectors if you go e85
Dyno tune from one of the top shops

Aftermarket clutch to support the RPM
mgw race spec to avoid gear lockout
driveshaft because it would be silly to leave that weight on the drivetrain
Big air-oil cooler if you plan on road coursing the car
oil pump gears for safety since the timing cover has to come off anyway

should put you right in the ballpark

Looking at about 8-12k in parts plus a bunch of labor if you don't do it all yourself.

Like the others have posted above, it won't be cheap and it won't be easy either. Go boosted if your not going to track the car. It'll easily make 600+ RWHP for less $$

Yup you could pick up a Hellion twin kit for about the same cost or just about any blower with cash left over lol

I called MMR a couple weeks ago and I got a quote of $4,000 from them. This included stage 3 ported heads, upgraded springs, bigger valves, custom grind n/a cams, lockouts, and billet OPGs and timing gear. He said that should put ours at 535-545rwhp. And I also got a quote of $8,000 and that included gt350 heads and the same setup. He said that would most likely be good for 560rwhp. This is also on the stock bottom end.

Hey that's pretty interesting.....is that on pump gas or straight e85/ftw?

That is really interesting. A good bit of money but that's the price to stay n/a. Thank you for the info

Yes sir that really got my attention. I just knew it was going to be more cash than that. But that really grabbed my attention! He also said the rev limiter could be extended to 8,200, but were revving to 8,000 already so that wouldn't really matter.

Am I the only one who thinks those hp numbers are really optimistic?

For example, this build from a member here netted 607rwhp on e85:

The car features a Livernois Motorsports’ 5.2-liter Big Bore, 14:1 compression combination with Diamond custom pistons, Manley billet connecting rods, and a micro-polished Boss crank. The 315-inch engine features Livernois-spec ported Boss heads up top with PAC valve springs and custom cams. A Cobra Jet intake, Ford Performance twin 65mm throttle-body, and a RevAuto cold air intake......

And I know from his thread here that he spent a ton of money and time getting to that number.

I'm just saying what he told me over the phone bro. I feel hat 540rwhp is achievable. I seen a couple guys with 510with full bolt ons and cams. So I think that 30rwhp is around what ported heads would gain.

Will have to think about it some more I have plenty time I don't plan on modding until early next year. Hellion kit is very tempting since it comes with pretty much everything you need including headers. But there's just something about raw NA power I'll have to think hard about it.

Completely understand about the source of the info, and I might very well be the one way off base. I haven't seen much posted recently on NA builds, so I dunno. The build I referenced was from 2014-2015 I think.

People like simple and easy.....takes money and effort to build n/a. Anyone can slap on a supercharger and call it a day, but n/a takes thought and planning because all the parts have to work together. I stayed n/a because that's the bosses heritage, don't see anyone building an n/a gt500....lol

Most of the NA builds putter out around 510-520 unless you're running race gas, e85, or start playing with compression/displacement.
