So many haters...

Chevy: SS, Corvette Z06, Corvette Grand Sport, Camaro ZL1, Camaro ZL1 1LE

Ford: Ford Focus RS, GT350, GT350R, Raptor, SHO, Ford GT

Dodge: Charger Hellcat, Challenger Hellcat, Demon, Trackhawk, SRT Durango, Ram Rebel TRX, Ram Rebel, (if you still want to count the Viper, Viper ACR, Viper TA)

It's easy to say that Dodge is dominating the performance sector with their selection. "But they can't engineer good handling cars like Ford & Chevy"....VIPER ACR. Anywho...shut up. They offer the coolest lineup of any of the domestic manufacturers. To find another manufacturer lineup to offer as many cool performance vehicles, you'd have to look at Mercedes with their AMGs & Audi with their R/RS/S lines. I'm obviously excluding Porsche, because that's pretty much all they specialize in besides their lower model SUVs & 4 Doors.

I don't have the time to read 51 pages of comments on this thread, so maybe someone already posted this info, but here goes>>
Do you know the weather conditions at the time of filming that run? I'm sure the crew waited for the most optimum time. I have the stats all but the most important: The DA was (-) 1213 feet. That means a personal best for virtually any of us here!
HUH?!?!?
So,.......a stock '17 Mustang GT would run 9's in that DA??
A stock '17 ZL1 would runs 9's in that DA??
See what I'm getting at? It's more than just good DA.

Not a hater here. In fact, I owned FOUR 1970 Challengers, from a 318/auto to a plum crazy, 4-speed R/T convertible. Loved the style then and still do today.
But like any other car, ANY car can be made to go fast. Just a matter of how much $$$ you got, or willing to spend for someone else to engineer it, like this one. I really don't see any innovation that has not been in existence in the past. What I do see is a car manufacturer utilizing those (aftermarket) innovations on a factory car for the first time.

Not what I said. What I said is take your personal best, whether it be in the 10's, 11's, 12's, etc.... whatever it is... and translate that run to a track when the temp is 41 degrees and a D.A. of negative 1213 feet (a racer's dream) and see how much improvement you see. i have never seen a D.A. as low as this. I typically run when it is over 6,000 feet. Anyways, knowing this stat makes the result of the run a little deceiving, don't you think? No prejudice here, I love Challengers. I just like to speak facts....

The Da is definitely great, but I don't think it's deceiving in the car's ability.

Well, here's what I think. Purely speculation but my take. I bet the engineers researched NHRA tracks, pre-selected it and the month to make their run, based on past records of weather to optimize their run. I don't think they chose the track and seasons by drawing names and dates from a hat....... they left nothing to chance. Know what I mean?

So they chose the best circumstances to get the best time their car can do. Pretty much any and all car companies would do that. Do you think the 918 ran a sub 7 min at the Ring on a shitty day. Porsche wanted the best time the car could do and so does Dodge.

...which will hopefully lead them & others to implement this in more upcoming vehicles...You don't have to invent, you just have to innovate.

I haven't read the whole thread, but I thought it was really neat that they put a killer chiller on it! AND I sincerely hope the guys in Albuquerque that invented that system patented it and got paid dearly by chrysler for the rights to use it.

So..... does the "crate" fit in the trunk? Or do you get the optional Caravan roof rack that no one talks about with it?:D

It's not a Killer Chiller. It redirects the cold air from the AC vents to the intake. The Killer Chiller refrigerates the intercooler fluid.

The trunk is designed to become the crate. Basically, it's setup in such a way that everything in the crate gets strapped into the trunk in the same manner that it gets strapped into the crate.

Or you can buy the Track Hawk, toss the crate in the back, and tow the Demon to the track with the baddest SUV on the planet.

It's nice to see Dodge actually putting that engine in other vehicles in their line up. Now there's a truck that needs it and I wish they'd bring back the magnum. Always had a thing for wagons.
Will you be getting a trackhawk?

Almost 100% guaranteed.
That's awesome.
I can only imagine having a 707HP and 650TQ AWD suv for a daily driver. If I wasn't so bent on getting the new GT500 or Hellcat Challenger, I might entertain the idea as well.

Yea man. I hear you. I'm gonna trade my Rubicon Hard Rock for one. I have a really bad back injury from a crash a couple years ago, so off-road trails are pretty much not an option anymore.

I am going to set it up for towing for track days with the Shelby. Makes sense to me to tow the car I plan on racing, in the event I need a ride home. LOL
