I have a lot of reading to do on the GT500s as this is my first one I have owned. Have had Cobras and other 5.0 Mustangs in the past, including a 2015 GTPP that had a ton of mods on it.

I am looking for feedback on going axle back or cat back on these cars. I seem to be leaning towards a Corsa or Stainless Works setup.

Is it worth switching out the the factory h-pipe and replacing it with another aftermarket one? Is there power to be made by doing so? I know on my '15, switching out a catback and resonator did not net any power, it was all for sound.

Are the preferred CAIs going to be PMAS, JLT or Steeda? I know a tune is required for those and will be using Rob Shoemaker for that.

What about headers on these cars? Do they make a decent bump in HP over the factory headers when combined with a tune, CAI and pulley change?

It seems these cars are close to 700/700 with pulley, 93 tune, CAI and headers. I assume if the tune is spot on and you continue to use good gas, the motor will live a long life at those power levels?

Thanks for any feedback.

My advice is do some reading and determine the direction you want to go with the car. IE.......dont spend $ on cat back if you are thinking of long tubes because often it is too loud for many peoples personal preferences. Get with a tuner and talk with them about you goals and then trust them. There are several on here that are good and have experience where you are about to live. Go slow on your plan and have fun.

Everyone has a different purpose and goal for thier cars so opinions will vary based on that. These cars are great on many levels.

I prefer longe tubes off road mid pipe and stock axleback. My jlt, pulley, frpp cobra jet tb, and headers makes 730rwhp. Runs good but you need suspension work to hook.

I have Corsa's, love them. I also have a Steeda CAI, upper pulley and Steeda tune with no complaints. Ran an 11.28 at 124.51 with that set up, for whatever that's worth. Plan on doing ARH LH and a Ford Mono TB some time in the near future. Depending on what the tuner recommends and when I decide to retire the car from DD responsibilities I plan to switch to e85.

I would leave the stock mufflers, this is obviously a personal opinion. I really like the sound of mine, it would prolly sound even better with long tubes w/ stock mufflers !!

whoa I long time no see, I remember you from the MPH days! Grats on the new ride!

Speaking from my personal experience, if you go longtubes and O/R-mid, I'd stick with the stock mufflers. I had full stainless works but recently replaced my catback with the stock one because it was too loud/raspy for my taste. Right now, it has a deeper tone that's similar to stock, but louder.

Todd:
Welcome, congrats on joining the club.
For reference, my car had 4.10s, 20" Alcoa SS wheels with 315 Nitto NT05R DRs and a Lund 93 tune with no other mods stock to the OEM filter. It went 11.03@129 like that, and felt very balanced on the street.
It now is fully built with 943rwhp on pump E85, so I've been through lots of mods.
My point is echoing guys above, decide what YOU want for the goals.
Many guys add power (easy with bolt one) and smoke the clutch the first time on a sticky tire. These are heavy cars with TALL gearing stock.
So if you plan to drag race, or even just make it a street brawler up to 160mph, 4.10s and a tall DR all day.
PM me if you want to talk, I'm about to have my car out on the streets starting next weekend and also have a long list of left over good mods that will be posted after next weekends spring garage clean out.
Great choice on your GT500----we need pics!

Welcome to the 13/14 Shelby world, lots of great advice so far. I have a had a 2013 GT500 that I did a full super snake conversion to with a 3.6 KB and E85. It was monster. Having said that I probably would never do it again. IMO NOT 123mm intake, super cobra jet mono blade, OFR X pipe, 2.39 upper pulley and call it good. But I know that's enough for most lol. For now my 2014 GT500 is staying basically staying stock.

Thanks folks. This is my 12th Mustang so I've been around the block a few times with modding these cars.

I only plan on doing the basic engine mods such as pulley, TB, tune and CAI and calling it a day. That will be plenty of HP for what I plan on doing with the car. I'll get some suspension mods done, too.

I think I like the Borla S catback/axle back the best. Has a great, deep tone and no rasp at all.

Do the Corsa have any rasp at all to them? Guess I'll watch some YouTube videos and see how they sound.

Corsa's are the most stock sounding axle-backs in my opinion. I loved the stock sound so I chose them for that reason, minimal to no rasp, low deep tone and of course no drone. Beauty is always going to be in the eye of the beholder though, everyone's preference is unique.

So very true, kwarnerjr!

What vendor have you all used that has the best prices on axle backs for these cars?

Hey man! Those were the good old days at MPH and their forum. I see is back at the tuning business and turning out some serious HP on the Dodge front.

Your GT500 looks awesome. Hope you've been well, too.

I have the Corsa - not installed yet though, but have the best looking tips on the market IMO. Aside from that, I bought them for the reasons stated above; no drone, rasp, etc and deep tone.

Guess I need to be able to hear some of the Borla and Corsa setups. Hopefully at the next C&O in Atlanta, I can hear some setups.

Here are a few pictures of the new car after a quick was after unloading it from the enclosed trailer this past weekend.
