Whats going on guys, My names Earvin ( they call me Gotti), I'm originally from NY and moved down to Florida a year ago. I currently reside in Deltona, I am also a Corrections Officer, pursuing Law enforcement certification to become a sheriff deputy or a local PD officer. I am a huge car enthusiast i've had a bunch of cars, I'm probably on close to #18-19 in the last 8-9 years.
I recently purchased this 98 Cobra that was in mint condition, had upgraded suspension but had a stock engine, no power mods that were known of. I bought it on March 13,2017......
I hate those hose covers.
Well, needless to say, I love my cobra! i wanted it more for auto-x , crusing, road course type of use rather than 1/4 racing. I grew up street racing a lot and still love it, but due to my career choice lol, you can only do so much. But anyways, I took off the whole week I bought the car to play with it.
On Thursday March 16th 3 days after buying my Cobra I decided to detail it.
After detailing it for 3 hours, my wife told me to go get the family food for dinner, I hadn't driven the car all day so i went to grab some food from applebees which is about a 15 minute drive. On the way home I was about 5 minutes away when this guy decides to ruin my day, and of course......my newly purchased (to me) cobra.......
I cant disclose much detail about the incident due to my injuries and since my attorneys tell me I cant lol. Lets just say, He was cited by the police, He was found liable by his insurance and they are paying my medical bills and my car getting fixed(if it does) and my rental.
Here's some pictures of my car....
You can still see the shine on the car from the detail it got. ( this was 2 days after the accident)
From my knowledge working at body shops, this is literally at the cusp of being totaled. I have informed them I do not want them to total it out, but if they do, I guess I will buy it back. (front bumper, fender, door, rocker panel, 3 wheels and tires because he sent me up a curb after he T-boned me, corner light, driver power mirror, and most likely some suspension work.)
I'm not one to swap everything into a GT, or a v6 and call it a day. I bought this because its a COBRA. I do not want to slap all my cobra stuff in something else, then throw on cobra bumpers and hoods etc. and make it a replica. I wanted an original cobra, in clean shape (which it was both) and unfortunately this is one of the reasons why Florida sucks......Between old people and people who have no patience,I cant win.
On another note.....
Any feedback on what I should possibly do let me know! if i buy it back should I fix it and just throw a blower on it and use it for power, or should i tear it down and make it a full track car. Or just part it out. At this point if I get a rebuilt title I will never get what the car is worth so I will never sell it especially if I dump all the money I get from insurance into it.
