I'm just wondering if the ford dealerships would still carry terminator parts. Or if they don't would they have access to like a back log of OEM parts that were never sold? Thanks

Yes dealers would still have parts or access to new old stock parts that are around the country if A. That part is in stock somewhere at another dealer or warehouse location
B. That the part in question is still in production
And can be ordered from Ford corp

But take into account there are a significant number of parts for these cars that are now discontinued and completely out of stock due to age that aren't available direct anymore, only aftermarket or other avenues such as eBay or private seller.

Basically no parts available, try a new idler pulley, not gonna happen, tensioner is available w/ pulley, but most discontinued, it is still made and in another car or truck the part number has changed and they won't try to crossover, if you do your homework and know what fits you still need to know what car or truck it goes on or they don't help either, tried with part numbers but the dumbass was stuck on what vehicle I needed it for.

Find a new parts guy. That's ludicrous.

Some parts are discontinued but a lot are not. The older the vehicle the more adept your parts guy needs to be, but still. If someone gives me an Engineering number or part number who gives a shit what it's off of....either the number is good or it's not

The difference comes in models vs tooling and time. A limited volume model such as our two year only made Cobra doesn't warrant as much after production demand for model specific parts. Now basic broad use parts like say a door skin or fender which is used on multiple models of mustang and are common replacement parts are produced for several years post production.
If you want genuine Ford parts that makes it difficult later on because they've quit making them and sold the tooling or released the licensing on said tooling. That leaves it open to aftermarket, such as a generic parts store selling a tensioner, which may be actually made by the original manufacturer but under another name.

The problem is most people rely too much on technology to do their job for them instead of using the technology to get the job done.

So, they type in a number or part description. Computer says out of stock or not available and that's what the part's guy tells you.

Now, what he should do is cross reference the number to see if it's available some place else or under a different vehicle.

But when you tell them to do that this is how they respond:

If you put dayco or gates idlers you should check their roundness, I have several I could show out of round or balance straight out of the box

On late model restoration, many of the Terminator parts are Ford Motor Company Genuine Parts. Such as the chin spoiler. The aftermarket has really improved

Unless you are an absolute stickler for strict originality, for a pulley, idler or adjuster, why not just upgrade to a Metco? They are so much better than the sheet metal stamped OE pulleys it is not even funny. The OE sheet metal stamped pulleys flex under load, work harden and then crack and they are also known to explode if they spin a high enough rpm. Certain things you are just better off with a performance aftermarket upgrade, and this is a classic example of one.

My opinion is if you are not a collector or your car has 1000 miles on it, it won't make a difference to the value

That was the plan. I was just wondering.
