Disappointed in all these answers. There is only one solution to this answer, obviously its Termie.
Cargo space, value, makes great power with a pulley swap, has the weeee whine. Hell, you are going back to the roots (literally roots type blower, eh... jk), the termie is what started it all.

+1 for the mad tight cargo space.

I own an 03, but have driven a few GT500's as well as cats, both charger and challenger.

The six speed makes it a lot more immersive driving experience.

I look at it like this, performance aside, the Shelby has a more "muscle car/raw" experience.

The cat feels more refined and more of a "sports car".

The charger and challenger are like the fancy brunette you bring to a cocktail party, soft, mild spoken and classy.

The Shelby is like a blonde nympho, a little looser, but she's a wild ride that'll leave you smiling.

In my area (Northern CA) I literally Hellcat Challengers a few times every day. I only see GT500's every so often. Hell, I see more Ferrari's and Lambo's than I do GT500's.... I like them both but it seem the Hellcats are not as rare as the 500's (Challengers) On another note, I hardly see the Chargers....

How cute, he's still stuck in the 90s
Auto is just boring to me. Manual is more engaging. I don't care if it's faster. I enjoy it more. I prefer to feel like part of the car, not like I'm just playing a realistic game and flipping paddles or just holding a peddle down.

No manual is the single reason I did not buy the SRT8 Magnum or the Charger. Nice cars, but no manual = not considered.

Hellcat Charger for me. Don't care if it's not a manual. Call me old but at 35 all of my fast cars have been manual and I've grown tired of it. I'm over dealing with the notchy transmissions. I just want to get in, hit the start button, put it in drive, and go fast. The 8HP90 is amazing. I loved the 8 sped in my Grand Cherokee. I'm picking up a Hellcat Charger in less than a month, when I'm home stateside again.

I would go with the auto if I get the hellcat. It will be my daily. One issue that I have is the value of the cars. The Shelby's seem to be holding its value pretty good while dodge seems to be pumping out the hellcat. The initial purchase price is probably gonna be the same either way. That's saying a lot for an almost 4 year old shelby

I considered both cars, and also considered the value hit. Ended up with a really clean 1 owner 2nd gen CTS-V. Definitely the slower of the 3 but I thought the interior, stereo, magnetic ride and savings made up for it.

depends on what you're looking for. for a DD i think an auto HC challenger would be saweeet!
Yeah, I have to agree. As much as I like the last gen GT-500, I'd personally want a HC Challenger (auto). I think on a daily basis it would be more fun overall/more satisfying overall. And the conversation factor would be icing on the cake.

But, you can't go wrong with either one. I guess you'll have to prioritize the power, size, weight, comfort, features and wow-factor based on your own wants and needs.

Oh I get that, I daily drove an 04 Cobra for 6.5 years. I do miss free revving but that's about it.
obviously he can't drive a Viper. Just a pussy auto HC !
Well that's a first.

Been there, done that. You couldn't pay me to drive a Viper for more than a track day

I have a 17 Daytona 392 Charger and I love it, fast, nice inside, looks awesome. I used to have an 03 cobra and 11 GT, never a gt500 but I think it really comes down to if its a DD or a weekend car. My charger is my daily and I have a focus ST that I take to the track and autox. All the people that are saying only pussies drive auto... are you actually racing your manual transmission cars or do you consider yourself manly because you shift from N to 1st to 2nd back to N in traffic lol. Unless you actually take your manual sports cars to tracks there is nothing manly about it.

About 2 years ago I was in the market for either a 13/14 GT 500 or Hellcat A8. I test drove a GT500 and did not like the clutch it felt kind of stiff compared to the clutch on my 07 Z06. The interior seemed kind of dated and boring compared to the 15 Hellcat interior styling and user interface IMO. The GT500 was Dark Shadow Grey my favorite color. I found a used Hellcat and decided to buy it because the electronics/interior felt more modern and auto was a deal breaker. 21 years of driving a standard gets old. I over paid for my Hellcat but don’t regret it. Hellcats are now selling for below MSRP and you can get a used one pretty cheap. The GT500 is one my favorite cars and I wish I could afford both.
