Guys with the CJ manifolds on A6's, how's your driveability characteristics? From idle, start and stop, low rpms cruising around 25-30mph?
Just seeing what's the norm or if I should go back to the Boss IM where it's had stock like driveability.

AED has the CJ drivability down, better than stock IMO. Its all in the tune. I had a BAMA tune on my CJ for a whopping 600 miles or so, and that is where start/stop/low RPM issues were found for me.

My driveability is really bad. Thought I could get use to it but it straight up sux. I'll have to ask the tuner again but he's super well known. Said it's the norm. Just don't know what the extra $100 for CJ tune is for if there's nothing to be done on it's idle/driveability.

That's definitely not normal when you have people who have no driveability issues. I had a CJ with a monoblade and drivability was very smooth.

CJ with mono blade and PMAS intake on mine drives like stock. Very good street manners. Parking lot speeds are also a breeze, there is no changing how you drive the car when you go CJ manifold, it should drive like stock, even when going 1-2mph over speed bumps.

I know my boss was like stock. If it didn't shoot to 2krpms super quick as I barley give it gas from a stop, I would probably be fine. But it does it so quick that I will hit the brakes (stop n go) and it's still trying to go. So you definitely have to press them harder. Can't stop no where close behind a car and tap the gas or it would leap at that car and rear ended it. Does this all the time so it's a choir.
The low rpm driving around 25mph, it'll shoot up at times and lurch forward or flux. That happens 50% of the time.
But I agree, should be almost like stock if not stock like characteristics. This should be cake for this tuner and i'm not too happy.

I have the exact same problem my turner said it's normal too that some converter cars do this . The performance is awesome but I hate normal driving in it. I bought the twin 65mm for better drive ability but so far that is not the case.

I know my Boss setup and converter, my car ran spot on. CJ set up is crap. Wot is great but I do more stop n goes and low rpm/mph driving so it's killing me. And this is the initial tune. No 2nd or 3rd revision.
I tried a different tuner and driveability is better. Just needs a few things touched up.

.....just want to make sure I was reading that right. runs like crap on initial tune, no 2nd or third revisions. tried a different tuner, all seems well but still needs a few things touched up.

did I get that right?

Guess I didn't read that part. I know my tune wasn't 100% to my satisfaction on the first go round. That's why I was a bit suprised at the response of no 2nd/3rd revisions, and his jumping to a different tuner. I thought he didn't give the guy a chance.

I'm happy with my initial tune (Lund) I received 2 weeks ago for my cj with gt500 60mm tb. Car runs strong. Only things I notice is my idle is slightly higher than stock (it fluctuates between 850-900 rpm) and it may be a bit rich. I'm guessing that's the nature of my tune/set up. Overall, driveablility is great. I do want to do some data logs. I would like to know I'm getting the most out of my tune.

Gave the guy plenty of chances but his initial tune is supposed to be 100% spot on. Swap to Lund and it's 100% badass. Lunds initial tune, off the bat, was way better than Shaun's
but just like any initial tune, needs a tweek. That's what I was referring too. But if Lund would have blown me off on their initial tune, theirs would have still been better than Shaun's. So him blaming hardware vs software is an excuse and Lund proved it.

You can always datalog it and learn to read over it. It's one of the best things to do. And if a tuner tries to tell you it's fine but you see something, you can point it out. That's what I did on my datalog to Lund. For them to scroll through all the datalogs that the receive from customers, things can be overlooked by accident. I just give them the time stamp and what I saw. They're actually happy when you do that.

Yeah, I've been doing a bit of research on the subject. Glad you're happy with your Lund tune! He seems to have the cj locked in.

He only sent one tune and said it's good? That's very unlike him in my experience. I always get multiple datalogs in before he sends the final tunes.

Glad your car is running well OP!
