I'm curious if anyone can provide specific information on our engines in regards to solutions regarding the PCV system in our cars.

Most people seem to place a catch can on the passenger side and leave the driver side breather hose alone or put a filter on the valve cover. My thoughts tell me that seems backward. The driver side is the intake breather side which is in vacuum under full throttle loads which is when I'd assume most of the blow-by is occurring. Wouldn't you want the catch can on that side before putting one on the passenger side?

Braden,

You have to delete the Positive Crankcase Vent Valve.
The passenger side PCV tube is on the vacuum side of the TB, and the Driver side connection connects to atmosphere vent side

I have a Peterson Catch Can setup, see attached picture.
Old picture but you get the idea(hoses are shorter now), same setup ran on the boss 302R-S.

Not a fan of breathers at all btw.

Chris

im about to do the same thing to mine. had my 11 gt for almost 3 yrs. now and inspected pcv system for the first time last week. \Definately expected blowby to be on both sides.Luckily the drivers side hose was completely dry. Pass. side was the culprit.Found oil in that hose because thats where it enters back in the system

Hey, Chris. Can you elaborate on this for me? I'm a little confused what you're implying.

My understanding of PCV systems tells me the majority of blow by at low-idle speeds is going to be pulled through the PCV check valve (passenger side on our engine) due to the valve being open due to vacuum existing in the manifold still. However, at full throttle, the valve should be closed and all blow-by should be pulled through the air-breather (driver side). The full-throttle blow-by and cylinder pressure seems much more concerning to me than low speeds.

That is correct, although, you do not need a breather or an additional separator for the driver side. Plenty of s197 and s550 race cars have been running the Peterson Catch can mounted next to the battery eliminating the driver side.
