Considering a '13 with ~36K miles - any concerns?

I've been looking at two different 2013 GT500s - both are 100% stock and appear to have been well cared for and both have around 35-36K miles on them. I've had my local dealer run the VINs and there has been minimal warranty work on both with clean CarFaxes and AutoChecks as well.

They are both around $40k and seem fairly priced. Is there anything in particular I should be concerned about if I pull the trigger on one? They are both out of state so I can't just go test drive them but both still have remaining drive train warranty and neither have any visible mods of any kind. I've seen tons of pics and videos of both with engine starts, etc so I feel fairly good about either one.

I don't really care about the miles on the cars since they both look and sound very good and do have some remaining 5/60K drivetrain warranty - but should I?

If I were you...pull the trigger and then purchase an additional bumper-2-bumper warranty. Many choices out there under $1,500. Impossible to identify how your baby has been treated.

I would also request to find out how old the tires are and have the dealer install new rubber all around to secure the deal if needed.

Good luck with your search...it will be worth it. These cars are amazing!

My 14 has 35K miles on it and I wouldn't consider selling it for $40k even if it was stock. If a non biased mechanic says they're good and you're ok with the color/options, get yourself a very sweet ride. I'd want to test drive it though. When I go to car shows or cruise ins and see other Shelby's I always look at the engine real close. Down in the front of the engine, valve covers, and below the fuel rails. If those areas are really clean then I know somebody is proud of their car and that's a good indicator that it's being taken care of.

Thanks for the replies so far. The dealer has installed new tires on one of them but the other one has really good tread but no idea how old they are.

The one dealer was pushing a 36 month extended warranty that has a $100 deductible but covers everything supposedly. However, he claimed it was over $2700 so I told him I was not interested in it if I do buy his car. I know there are cheaper options out there for extended warranties than that.

Those warranties are a waste of money. You're much better off putting that money toward a set of tires and mods.

If it's a Ford dealer, have them plug into the car and see if the car has ever been tuned. I would say compression check and leak down for piece of mind. The cars are rock solid if that checks out.

Neither are at a Ford Dealer. I wish they were - that would be nice to have checked However, from the looks of things I do believe both cars are 100% stock but you never know.

Does the SVT Performance Package make a car worth more at this age/miles? Seems like it would.

Not really sure if it makes a huge difference at this age...might way down the road. It does add the upgraded differential, electronic adjustable suspension dampers, and different wheels.

I would choose the PP if you are ok with the color/options on that vehicle if they are equal money. The electronic suspension is really nice and it has the Torsen diff.

One is red with white stripes and the other is black with matt black stripes. Both have the SVT Performance Package.

Mmmmm Red with white stripes is mighty purdy. Youll never keep the black clean plus its by far the most common color scheme. Just food for thought.

Oh, yes, I know the problems of having a black car all too well. Thanks for the advice. The red/white one does indeed look gorgeous but I also have always been a sucker for the sinister black paint.
