IAT switch to purposefully heat soak?

Question for the drag racers out there. I was wondering if anybody has ever added a resistor on a switch to iat sensors to heat soak the car off the line. A tuner can go in and remove any amount of timing you want when the car thinks it's heat soaked.

Why would you wanna purposely heat soak? Not trying to be rude or anything just wondering

So I can pull a bunch of timing out of the car off the line so I don't spin so bad. It's only for no prep type of things I don't have a problem on prep. I'm a blower car so I can't really adjust tuning much on stock computer

It's an interesting idea and I'm sure it's possible. But if you're you going race a lot it might be worth getting the software and tuning it yourself.

Yessir the only thing I can do is go standalone and I'd rather not do it just yet until I blow the stock engine and probably convert to turbo at some point then I'd do standalone but tuning on stock computer won't allow me to do anything at the moment

You don't need a stand alone if you have the software. If you have the software you could adjust the timing tables however you want.

But if you're planning on a stand alone eventually no point in spending the money twice.

Yea but with stock computer you can only adjust timing overall. I was just wondering how I would go about wiring a resistor to the iat to make it think it's running hot or vice versa so I can have my tuner pull timing during heat soak when I flip the switch

You can adjust timing by load and rpm. The stock tables have timing ramped up from low rpm to high rpm. It's not like you can only adjust spark globally.

I understand what you were asking. As I said it sounds interesting and possible. Personally I never want another switch I have to hit in the middle of a run. But then I'm not that good of a racer.

I see where you're coming from, but wouldn't a better fix be in the form of suspension or tire vs pulling power? That way you can utilize what's already on the table

Yes it would be but when your racing on virgin surface I'd rather be able to control power also on top of suspension and all other variables

I get what you're trying to do here, but you're really backing your way into solving the issue. If you're running an SCT or something now you may want to look into addding an aftermarket ignition box or something and that would allow you to adjust timing dependent on RPM.

My car has a th400 and stall converter so I wouldn't be able to go by rpm because my car sees 5500 rpm and more through the whole run if it was a stick car I could go by rpm

There has to be a timing retard box out there that you could trigger based upon an output from that TH400 based upon what gear its in I'd think that would solve the same issue.

I would have to have a standalone to add in a traction control box. The only thing you can mess with ignition wise on stock ecu is add a 2 step/wot box. My trans has no electrical connectors or anything of the sort and even if it did I would still be asking the same question that would be even more in depth to go through than just making a switch into the iat sensor

Can't you use a J&S Vampire and use the nitrous switch for spark retard? Plus you'll have the other added benefits of the unit.
