At least you do not get banned for saying something that "someone" has a problem with. :D

LOL!! My account over there got straight up deleted, and I didn't even do anything there! Never even got into so much as a disagreement with anybody there. I had an account there a few months before I had one here. [spoken with a lisp] Somebody is a sensitive boy! LOL

Is my scat pack challenger a super bee?

It has bees on the badges on the fenders.

Challey?

When this site becomes as DEAD as FordGT500.com, these type of threads have merit. Until then, don't waste the time.
How's that glove fitting OP?

Went to Wal-Mart last night to get a new golf glove and all they had was left handed ones

Same folks but technically not an svt vehicle. Like you said its FP.
To be fair, when they debuted the GT350, it was when SVT was named SVT. I remember seeing a picture of a strut tower brace with SVT on it, and later the same photo was photo shopped and the SVT was removed.

I know, picking the fly shit out of the pepper.

I believe SA owns the rights to the snake emblem so Ford has to pay for the license to use the logo on the non-Shelby badged cars.

I'll have to verify, but I could swear I saw an SVT badge somewhere on my R. Not in a readily visible spot, though.

They were never called cobras. They were always referred to as GT500s or GT350s.

Well let me start off by saying I REALLY dont like using wikipedia as a source for anything but if this entry is to be believed, the first generation were known as cobras. Now, I'm not old enough to have actually lived during this time, so I can't say whether people referred to them that way.

Again, why have cobra emblems if the vehicle isnt a cobra?

The Ford cobra emblem and the Shelby emblem look physically different and always have. They have ALWAYS been called their respective gt350 or gt500 as a clear distinction from the Shelby Cobra which was a two seat roadster. The Ford Cobra has always been a mustang based platform starting with I believe the mustang II with the king cobra model mustang.
To answer your question they are physically different emblems. Look at them side by side, the Shelby one is more cartoonish and was made that way by Shelby.

My .02 cents for what it's worth.... That "Shelby GT500's, GT350's, and SGT's" that didn't come straight from Shelby American in NV are not Shelby's. I'm not taking any credit away from Factory SVT Gt500's. I love them and will probably own more than a few more in the future. However, credit where due, SVT built them, Shelby sold his name to Ford for cash. Like said previously, great marketing scheme and sold many more because of the name.

This became a catalyst for increased interest in American Muscle (not like there was a shortage before.) Meaning it helped to infuse money into what we all love here, high horsepower American muscle cars. By Ford banding them Shelby's they were able to sell more, increase R&D, put out increasingly better quality products, and keep fanning the flames to where we are now. Seriously think about it, factory cars with 500 hp are considered run of the mill today. That's incredible in and of itself.

The money Shelby made from these cars has kept Shelby American afloat and they continue to push out cars as well. Super snakes, GTs etc. So it's good for everyone.

SVT has been making Cobras since 93 and have never stopped IMO.

So for me it's comes down to this:
Product from SVT = Cobra
Product from Shelby American = Shelby

Ok, so 1965 and 1966 GT 350's were produced in LA.

In 1967, Ford became much more involved in the production process though 1967 GT 350 and GT 500's were built in LA.

In 1968, Ford took over complete production of the cars, and ADDED Cobra. They were now known as the Shelby Cobra GT 350 and Shelby Cobra GT 500. Production in Michigan, fiber glass bits by sub contractor A.O. Smith.

In 1969, a decision was made to drop the Cobra from the official name. Ford Designed, styled and produced all GT 350s and GT 500s. Shelby pushed out of most decisions on the car.

In mid 1969, Shelby said F it, Im done with this crap and cancelled his contract with Ford. a few hundred 1969 produced models were allowed by the Feds to be re serialized with 1970 VIN numbers and sold as 1970 production.
