Funny that you mention the assist spring, I was just thinking about that yesterday!

I have read about the improved feel with the spring removed, but since I have no issues with my clutch, I have been hesitant to do it (if it aint broke, dont fix it, kinda thing).

What made you take the "leap"?
I felt the same way you did, but the Spec is so grabby, I felt like I couldn't get consistent smooth releases, then started inking about it and decided to try the spring.
I hope you're a smaller guy with small strong hands as it was frustrating as hell for me and big shoulders.
Immediately it was easy to modulate, I'd recommend it even if you feel calibrated to the spring and stock clutch.

I might just give it a try, I am afraid it will be a pain in the ass for me as well... lol

When I swapped mine out for the steeda assist spring I was 5'8" 285lbs with wide shoulders. Was a breeze for me. Just go in knowing you're gonna be uncomfortable and upside down.

I did. Heard about the steeda spring. For 10 bucks I figured I'd give it a shot. I liked the steeda spring better. It's a very light spring. Just made it feel a bit better than full removal, still very linear. I never messed with the trans fluid. But between that spring, mgw, and frpp clutch line. Shifting that car was like butter. And overall driving experience was way better than stock.

Hmm... Had never heard of a replacement. Im guessing the main difference between no spring and steeda srping was the clutch requires a bit more calve muscle without a spring? Will look into it too.

I have heard really great things the MGW2 as well.

Thanks so much guys I will try to change the fluid and report back, so what should I use.

For a while I thought the Royal Purple Syncromax fluid was awesome and I did recommend it. Pretty good the first few times out racing. Then shifter performance dropped off. I drained the fluid and it didnt look good. More research by me found multiple people with the same experiences. Great at first but not great long term. I do NOT recommend it.

Redline D4 ATF, Amsoil Signature ATF, or Mobil 1 ATF should work. Recommended by me in that order but any of them will do.

I went to Mobil 1 shortly after purchase and it made the overall operation of the trans much better. Just went down to Auto Zone and bought it. Just get a good brand as recommended above in there and you will be pleased with the change.

I also found out that it took away any "sloppiness" feeling.

I'm assuming the lightweight Steeda is better than stock but still question if needed. Just do more squats haha :)

Was waiting for it. According to steeda, with lack of spring you will cause clutch cylinder damage etc etc. it gave the pedal a nice snap back. When I took mine out it didn't feel smooth at all.

What's the procedure if changing to a different ATF fluid and you have TP? Would like a way to TOTALLY drain out the stock fluid to add the better stuff.

My trans have had a fluid change once already but it was done at a Ford dealer and they replaced with factory fluids.

Also checking Blowfish racing's website they have revised their bracket with a V2 version now (slightly lighter than V1 and shifter attachment to the bracket is different).

I would drain the transmission and disconnect the cooler return line, then refill the transmission and follow the procedure outlined in the Transmission Fluid Cooler Flow Test section of the pdf. Attach a 3/8" hose to cooler return line and place the end of the hose in a suitable container, "DO NOT" place the hose in the transmission filler hole. Once you flush out all the old fluid in the cooler, reconnect the return line and refill transmission.
