Thanks. I was on vacation in Cape Cod and the Wife wanted to go get breakfast to bring back to the house (we stay with about 15-20 of her family members). I was coming to a 4 way intersection with a green light my way. I continued to drive because the light was green and as I did a white Tacoma ran the light to my left and I didn't see him until he was in the intersection.

I T-boned his truck, he got a ticket, and my Wife got an expensive ride to the hospital. THANK GOD my kids weren't with me. I hit him at about 45 mph with very limited brake input because I couldn't see him until there was no time. Strangely not one airbag deployed which is concerning with a direct frontal impact at 45ish mph IMO.

Hope your ok. WHat happened?

As someone who estimates damaged vehicles every day, Im a little surprised the bags didn't blow too just by looking at that. The damage is definitely bad and I can see that it held up well structurally as it didn't get far past the core support, but the impact alone I would think have set off the sensors. Just because the truck held up doesn't mean the occupants neccessarily will. Glad to hear you and your wife are relatively okay!

Yea, I'm pretty concerned that they didn't deploy. It was a direct hit with a truck at the same height at considerable speed. The truck held up well but it pissed all the coolant and oil as well (if you look closely you can see the oil residue on the ground). Honestly, I don't want it back. I'm waiting on the tear-down for the final estimate. It's being towed from Cape Cod to my area tomorrow. The adjuster said he was shocked the bags didn't blow.

How the fenders held up that well when the hood is up that far is beyond me. I get a lot of new F150s and some front end hits, but none that bad.

Looks like Mr. Tacoma mans insurance company just bought an F150.

Glad you're okay and hope the wife feels better soon.

Hopefully he doesn't have shit insurance.

How's the wife doing? Was the trip to the Hospital just a precaution?

I watch those USA car crash videos on YT and it's amazing how many accidents are what the OP just went through. ****ing scary shit.

Wow glad you're all ok and the kids weren't with you. That is scary stuff for sure.

Wonder if someone could take the chassis and driveline and swap it under an old school pickup. Been done before - pretty nice results.

Thanks man. Luckily Mass has stringent laws about coverage plus the truck is owned by a business, he was a working for them. The Wife is still very sore and having issues. The impact caused a hiatal hernia (her stomach was pushed upward through the top of her diaphragm and part of her stomach remained that way) which has resulted in reflux, trouble keeping food down, difficulty breathing, and general discomfort. She may have to have surgery at some point as a result. She has several hematomas on her waist, chest, lower leg, and back. Her T9 which was originally thought to be fractured suffered damage to the surrounding tissue and is causing her pain as well. The pain in her chest is worse than it would be as well be cause she got bolt-ons in February.

Hopefully he doesn't have shit insurance.

If it's totaled I may buy it back depending on the numbers. I've been wanting to get an old F100 and do that swap....another member on here has a thread detailing exactly that. If everything goes well that may be in the cards.

Glad to read that about Mass insurance.

Not glad to read that your wife has some bad short term injuries and may have some long term affects from that idiot running a light.
Hope she recovers quickly with no injuries that pop up down the road(like neck pain etc).

Definitely curious as well why the airbags didn't deploy.
