I've had the Edge and the Explorer sport and we had more second row leg room in the edge. The Explorer moves the second row up a little bit to make additional room for the third row. Our Edge had more second row leg room then my neighbors 2010 jeep GC.

I would test drive all cars and test fit your car seats. We have still have our Explore sport but we wished we had ordered buckets seats. We have an 18-month-old and 4 year old.

We have the most room in the four door F-150. You can put the front seats all the way back and you still have room for activities.

maybe the buckets but i dont think the 2nd row moves back.
Hi Steve,

The bucket will move back and only the passenger side of the bench will move back. This is how our 14 explore sport is.

Yea I'm not too concerned with the rear cargo room. My wife will be getting something larger soon. That's kinda why I have the Edge Sport on the list as well, but I haven't sat in a new one, or driven one for that matter.
I have driven a newer edge, I liked it a lot. If I ever upgrade my escape it will be to an edge.

Given it's Texas, you'd think they would avoid it. I would fully expect someone to catch them and execute them in the parking lot. No questions asked.

Trust me, this thought has crossed my mind. I almost always have my CCW on me. I was meeting my wife for lunch on my lunch break though, and generally don't carry while at work (looking to get a new LCPII to remedy that), so I didn't have it on me at the time. I've wondered what I would have done had I had to return to the Jeep at any point and caught them in the act. I wouldn't walk up and shoot them on the spot I don't think. They can have the Jeep, that's fine, but instinct would have at least lead me to confront them with a few choice words that would have at least lead to a fist fight, I'm sure. That said, who knows what the guy(s) had on them as far as a weapon goes. The current situation is probably the best way that it could have played out, aside from the $1,500 worth of shit I had in the back to return to Amazon after lunch that I'm now SOL on.

Sorry to hear about the SRT. That really sucks. Keep in mind the option of a 3rd row. My sister bought a fully loaded CTS to realize a year later she might have more than 2 kids. Now they are considering a minivan(AHHHHHHH). She really likes her Caddy so I told her to trade it in on a Escalade or better yet a Lingenfelter Escalade. That would be sweet.
Anyway, when car thieves steal these new super sophisticated cars, you now have to be a hacker to steal them. I saw a video of a guy who hacked a car with his cell phone through the WiFi and had complete control of the car while it was driving. He turned off and on all the lights, unlocked the doors and honked the horn and said if the steering is electric, he could steer the car. Imagine that they can not only easily steal your car, but somehow drive it remotely and do awful things with it. I think we all know what damage one car can do. Wow this topic turned dark.

Looking at those, I would say a CTS-V would be a fun choice, the 09-11's seem to be within your range. And from the seattime I have in newer Taurus', I think it would be a decent choice. I would actually go for an MKS Ecoboost, a couple more goodies and I like the dual-pane sunroof those have.

Yea, the MKS just isn't a good looking car. They need to get rid of the wing grills already.

Kinda what I was wondering.
I've used a Chinese Ford VCM clone to program new keys to my cobra via the OBD port. I don't see why I wouldn't be able to do this to any other car.

The only security feature is a hard 10 minute timer to access PATS functions.

what makes you think your car won't be recovered? it will be at least 30 days b4 ur insurance will settle any claim.

could have been towed away like they are every day in under 30 seconds with dollys. cops may chase it next week or recover it after they take the seats out or after they commit a crime with it or whatever else they need to do.

I think ur putting the cart b4 the horse. most cars are NOT completely stripped or sold to third world countries. in fact most cars taken today are because people are leaving their keys in their cars.

I work in Auto theft and we see over a 100 cars a month stolen in our city and our hot sheet has about 70% of the cars being taken with keys now cause they can't defeat the coded keys from 2003+.

there are pros out there stealing cars but a 2008 Dodge anything other then a viper is just not gonna be the one they take.

Jeeps and Dodge cars are the easiest to steal from what I've read. Laptop, software and 5-6 minutes is all it takes. In fact, I believe the car theft ring they busted last year was using stolen FCA software

You sound like the cop that didn't know much about cars who told me "we'll probably recover it, it's not like they'd want the motor or the seats." When, in reality, those are the two MAIN reasons they would take it. Also, Farmers told us they would only wait 7 days. So, there's that...
We are not far from the border, and there are Mexicans everywhere here. The chances are that it has already been stripped or it is already in Mexico.

Meanwhile, out here, they are stealing seats out of SUV's...

To me, the '09-'12 MKS are the better looking of the two. Mine has the EcoBoost Appearance Package that gets rid of the wood inside for aluminum carbon fiber look, all body panels paint colored, headlights are blacked out and specific wheel style to name a few. You also get the panoramic roof and adaptive headlight on the MKS that you can't get on the SHO.

Edit: If you're willing to up your budget a little, I'd strongly consider the Chevy SS. I'm going to be racing a 2016 Chevy SS at the end of next month. He's stock, I have a LMS tune only.

It's not on your list but the wife has a highlander and I freaking love it. Pretty comfy, Leather seats, sunroof the dash with navigation and stuff. It's perfect for us. Not too expensive that I care about it and we use the hell out of it. It's perfect as a daily IMO. Pretty inexpensive and it's been dead reliable. We leased one 2 years ago for 350/month. I bomb around in it all the time/ take to the beach and I've had 4 guys in it loaded with golf clubs and it was still roomy.

I've ridden in the back of my wife's grandparents highlander. We steered clear of it due to how little room is behind the third row when the seats are up. We couldn't fit our daughters stroller with the third row up. Seemed to have more second row legroom than our explorer though.

I guess you've never been to, or been related to, anyone from Texas.

You don't mess with a mans property, his family, or his home. But that's also the South in general. I've heard a few stories here and there about thieves "disappearing" after they get caught. No idea if it's true but.. around here? Could be.

I love this state! Yes we can use deadly force to protect property.

A person is justified in using deadly force against another to protect land or tangible, movable property:

(1) if he would be justified in using force against the other under Section 9.41;  and

(2) when and to the degree he reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately necessary:

(A) to prevent the other's imminent commission of arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime;  or

(B) to prevent the other who is fleeing immediately after committing burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, or theft during the nighttime from escaping with the property;  and

(3) he reasonably believes that:

(A) the land or property cannot be protected or recovered by any other means;  or

(B) the use of force other than deadly force to protect or recover the land or property would expose the actor or another to a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury.
