Picked up some 17x9.5's for the back and 18x5's for the front. Went with M&H front runners and in the back I picked up a set of ET STREET R 28x11.5's.

Going to try for a 10.9X pass with no tune or mods other than the wheels/tires

Edit: went with Dark Start Race Stars wheel wise

Darkstar wheels mean the front will bolt on, but the rears I doubt, I thought only Weld ZRTS 17s bolt on.
That new rear ET Street bias ply is the right choice, I'll be trying it too.
Still, the stock tune clutch protection will prevent you.
Second, if running 3.31 rears you just fried your stock clutch.
I put in 4.10s less than 1000 miles and my stock clutch looked perfect after several 10s passes.
Good luck.

I went 11.03@128 on 4.10s, heavy 20" Alcoa on Nitto DRs and Lund 93 tune. Paper stock air filter.
Again, fast stock gear guys have ALL replaced the clutch.
Last, you're rear 8.8 will whine without bracing, so if you dragging just do the gear and bracing same time, you'll enjoy the car more.

Would you guys please expand on the "8.8" will whine without bracing" statement.
I understand that comment pertains to the guys drag racing our 13-14 GT500's with a drag radial or slick.
What type of "Bracing" is available for the 13-14 GT500's to protect/prevent the notorious Whining issues of these 8.8 rears in a drag racing environment?
Are there braces that bolt on from the aftermarket OR is this bracing something that has to be made custom by a fabrication/race shop?
Thank you guys.

Easiest bolt on method is a Swarr Bar, or braces that are welded like the front and rear bracing Team Z Motorsports did for my car and now have available.
I've had 4 gear sets in my car, all have been silent until launched at strip.
I think the bias ply tire you chose will help that, but you'll thank me later is you go 4.10, rear girdle and Swarr Bar.
Wisdom is learning for the mistakes of others so you don't have to make them yourself. Credit some some guy for that comment:)

Also, I didn't expand on it, but the clutch protection kills the launch on these cars. A base tune from Lund will remove that and is a must, like the rear mods I mentioned for drag strip fun.

Che axle brace is an option as well. I run it along with a BMR suspension setup(LCA with relocation brackets, UCA, etc).

That brace looks very stout. Any problems with gear whine or rear end damage during launches? (assuming you've launched the car hard)
The rear of my car whines pretty bad, particularly after spirited driving. I'm running a 30 series semi-sticky tire that is even harder on the rear than most drag radials are since there is very little sidewall to distort.

I ran the car last night, wheels/tires (front and rear) fit perfectly with NO issues at all, Tires bit the best at 16psi. Car went a best of 11.356 @ 122.69. Unfortunately even when I disable advance trac the car still limits my launching. It wants to bite over 4k but when I launch it, I'm restricted which made me bog to 1.8 60 foot times. The higher I launched, the more the PCM took away.
The car is "bone stock" with tires, that's it. I'll get a tune, disable the other issues and get a 10 second pass with no mods other than a tune.

Great pass but if you keep that up with the stock clutch and 3.31s you'll be doing a clutch in short order. Do you have any whine? I believe the bias ply should help a ton, but my drag radial and stock rubber passes caused gear whine.
Good luck.

Bimi, why do you say that with stock gears, OP will fry his clutch. I am not familiar with this.

Wouldnt that depend more on over-slippage issue, as opposed to gearing?

Absolutely no gear whine at all.

I don't slip the clutch at all, will it wear out, yes, did it the first 6 passes, nope!

I wanted a 10 second slip, the restrictions by the PCM frustrated me.

People saw my launch, saw the bog and were amazed that it still ran 11.3 & 11.4 because it literally launches and my foot is on the floor, doesn't even want to haze but it pulls so good I'm still rewarded with low ET's!

I'm "SOOO" much happier with my 2014 than I was with my 2012, all around better car!

Love that color in the sun! I'd love it if someone would offer a 27" front DOT radial skinny, I just ordered 28" M&H bias fronts.

Anyway, the stock gear and clutch thing is completely based on mechanical advantage. 4000# car with 2.66 first gear and a 3.31 rear gear puts excessive stress on the clutch compared to 4.10s. Simply not enough mechanical advantage for drag launches.
NJTony and all the fast 3.31 cars hurt the stock clutch, even aftermarket clutches have failed. The clutch was the fuse.
My 4.10s went in around 1000 miles and after drag use and about ten 10 second passes looked almost new. My tuner said it had to be the gears also as his 3.31 car only had a handful of track passes and looked worse.
So, just a friendly warning but it's when not if the stock clutch goes if you continue to drag with 3.31s.
Same goes for gear whine, eventually drag use (with any gear ratio) will cause whine.
In HindNOS case, the bias ply tire is helping but I can almost bet if puts on street or stock radials there will be whine on the highway.

Interesting... Good thing my "hard launches" are limited to the occasional highway pull... :D

OP, I was also under the impression that the 17" rears would not clear our cars. Did you have to do any mods at all to make them fit? Any issues?
