talking about the shifter -- my problem was fixed by getting a simple Barton -- i think the very heavy Billet stainless steel shift knob is underrated--- counterweight is beautiful and helps shift. I can only imagine MGW2 would be flawless but my setup has been pretty awesome.

Interesting situation. I contemplated both a GT500 and an S550 and ended up with a 12 Shelby with a VMP TVS. I couldn't be happier with the car and coming from the garbage T56 in a Cobra, I was thrilled with the 6060. I have a Barton shifter and an RST with Motul fluid and it shifts like butter. I haven't had any issues shifting hard at redline so I'm kind of surprised to read that.

I love the S550 as well but there just isn't anything special about it. It has always hit me differently whenever I see a GT500. Has a different presence IMO. Honestly, I'd love to have an S550 6R80 TT car to race and this thing to cruise around in. Can't beat the auto S550s at the drag strip but when I look in my garage, I can't picture anything else there but the Shelby.

Looking forward to updates OP, post race results!

If you want to putz around on 12 degrees of timing the factory tune is pretty sweet. I do agree the shelby has more of a wow factor to other people for the most part. My car is for me and what i want not to impress other people.
I also bought my car 100 percent for my family to go to ice creams with. With stripe delete because I don't like the attention. Some people keep prying until they find out all the details. They ask what I drive, then what year then which engine......then the cats out of the bag when you tell them 5.4
