Tires too sticky

Hello all.
I just purchased a 2012 Laguna Seca Boss with 1500 miles, so the original, stock Parelli tires are still on the car. I noticed on my first drive that those tires really kick up a good amount of rocks and debris. Living in Pittsburgh, where the roads are not very good to begin with, I don't think I can keep these tires on there much longer. So I was looking at the MichelinPSS's but I'm worried they would do the same thing. Would they be better for me or is there another type of tire that would work better? The car will not be tracked very often and will not be driven in rain or snow. Just nice weather.

The MPSSs will do the same.

The regular Pirelli PZEROs would fix your problem.

Op, if I were you, I'd look into splash guards and PPF.

The last thing I'd want in a performance vehicle is to reduce traction. That's just backwards.

Beautiful car - congratulations! I have a 2013 Laguna and I got some Jaeger(?) splash guards for the front that I then trimmed down to be exactly the same size and contour as the rears (the Jaeger ones are YUGE as they come). Used a Dremel. I have 20x10.5 ET45 wheels with 285/35/20 PSS tires at all 4 corners so the tires sit out further than OE wheels but the splash guards help cut down on the road debris kick up.

I will have to say that please, please, PUH LEEZE do not use regular PZeros. Have had them as OE equipment on both my 2012 Boss and also my 2015 Jeep SRT and they are the most horrendous tires you can imagine when it is less than 80 degrees and/or if there is any standing water. I had more scary moments with them on both cars in 10k miles combined than all other tires in my life.

Had then on my 625rwhp Viper and never had an issue.

Well that's weird. I wonder if Dodge spec'd a different compound for the Viper tires because I am talking nearly hydroplaning off the freeway at 70mph in my Jeep when everyone else on the road was driving with no issues (tires had less than 5k miles on them). I am talking accelerating hard in 4th gear in my Boss and then going 45 degrees sideways on a 70 degree day in a straight line after I'd been on the freeway for 15 minutes already (tires also had less than 5k miles on them). Etc etc etc. And my friends with S550 GT PPs have had similar experiences, along with most peeps on the SRT Jeep forum. Call me an idiot for keeping them on as long as I did!

I ran the stock Pirellis on my '13 Boss before I got my new wheels. I never had any safety issues with them. I don't drive the Boss in the rain so I can't speak for them in the rain. I will say I did one track day with them and was not impressed with them at all. But to use for street use, they are quiet and seem to resist flat spoting from nonuse more than a lot of other tires I have had.
I have Nitto NT05s on my Vossen wheels. They stick well but are very noisey and flat spot easily from sitting. Not sure I would get them again. I have only tracked my Boss that one time. If I were to do it more I would get a dedicated track wheel/tire set up. There are not many tires that work well for both street and track use imo.

I just switched to continental slicks for track use, if i need to use the car on the street ill swap to my OEM wheels with pirelli's and haven't had issues for the past year or so. I used to run toyo r888's and i also used them on the street with good results.

Any good summer performance tire will grab rocks when warm/hot. I would recommend the new 3M clear bra/pain protection film on the bottom 1/3 of the car using the body line to hide film. The new stuff doesn't yellow and self heals (so to speak). I have it on the rear fender on my Bigdog for 3 years now and its awesome! A little time in the sun and any blemishes melt away

The OEM P Zeros that came on my 2013 Boss were horrible. It was like driving in the rain if I took the nannies off. I could break the rear loose accelerating through 3rd gear (50-60 mph) and went sideways on the highway after downshifting to 4th and hammering it (75 mph). And absolutely forget about driving in the rain - it was like getting caught in a snow storm. I replaced them at 15k miles with MPSS (same sizes) and there's no comparison.

I'm in FL, by the way. Procharged making 550 rwhp.
