Why not upgrade to a GT350 instead of a ZR1

Sent from my iPhone using svtperformance.com

what.

the.

****.

A GT350 and a ZR1 are not even close to the same class of vehicle.

And I run a Ford shop. hahahaha

@ArabianOak if it were me, I wouldnt think twice about it. Supercharged LS in that light chassis? Sign me up. C6s are some of the most fun cars to drive, imo.

Ha, I will say, it's hard to beat a Miata as a track car. I had friend that modded the crap out of one and used it on the twisties. It's hard to find something to have that much fun in that costs so little.
Well I have a couple friends with c7z's, McLarens and even a 918 Porsche. Their favorite car to track is their spec miatas and low end formula cars lol

...your friends have some great cars. I would hang around them more often. ha

But yeah, it's certainly easier to take the Miata to its limits than a 918 around a typical round course, ha. I guess that is one of the draws to them. At least what I hear from people or journalists and what not.

Ok gang. You pretty much convinced me. Lol.

Can anyone tell me how high maintenance the ceramic brakes are? I’m assuming since all of the cars I’m seeing are pretty low miles that it won’t be an issue. But I’ve been warned that they are outrageous to replace or repair. Anybody have any details?

Do you have to run the carbon ceramic rotors and carbon pads or can you swap to steel blanks and semi metallic pads?
A lot of carbon brake guys swap, specially when they do multiple track days.
Like I said earlier, not only are rotors expensive, the pads are too.
The carbon setup will last awhile if you don’t do track days. if youre a cars and coffee guy or just race on the highway you should be fine with carbon brakes.

I owned a 2011 ZR1 and can tell you the car is a ****en awesome car. The LS9 motor is great and exclusive with the C6ZR1. They are good to go for modding and an absolute beast out of the box. In fact I think the LS9 is probably better than the new LT4 (C7Z) which I own now. No need to worry about the brakes as you prob wont ever have to replace. Ive owned several stangs and vettes and have absolutely no brand loyalty and there isn't a stang out there that Id own over a ZR1. Do your due diligence as with any car and if all is good to go, get that ZR and you wont look back.

This.

Or OP could always go 03/04 Cobra and have best trunk space in its class!

Look at a GTR also. The interiors are amazing and they have a great aftermarket. You can get 14-15 GTR's in the 60's easily with 20-30k miles.
