Where the Air Force Sends Me
Lately I've been kicking around the idea of selling my 2008 GT500 with 33K miles with the mods listed in my sig and getting back into something newer (2011-2014). While I really enjoy the GT500 I like having all the cool new features such as better interior, better ride, engine, etc. I’m looking at a decked out 2011 GT/CS with 34K miles and a healthy list of suspension mods, full exhaust, boss intake/cold air, etc for $22.5K. He’s selling to help family in Puerto Rico. Sure the GT500 can handle more power from the factory but the Coyote engines are no slouch either. I guess I want the best of both worlds. So am I crazy?

I am not sure what your overall budget is, but if you are wanting these features, honestly the 2015+ platform is what you would be looking for. It actually does have a nice interior, more "techy" creature comforts, statistically a better ride, and version 2.0 of the no-slouch Coyote engine. The only detraction might be looks and the weight increase over the 2011-2014 platform.

You've lost your mind.

A base 11-14 Coyote car is a large step backwards (weaker motor, fragile trans).

BUT.. and its a big BUT

If it was a Boss 302 or 15+ GT (far superior motor) then i'd have to seriously consider.

Between those two pics, the coyote easily.
Between keeping gt500 vs s550 car, s550 car for sure.

S550 done right looks more modern and more comfortable with an IRS.

The interior did not change much across the s197 platform. If you want more 'techy' features, get yourself an aftermarket radio and keep the gt500 you currently have.

Also, $22k for a 2011 gt, even if it's a cs, seems too high for me. If I were going to get a S197, it'd have to be a 2013-2014 only. You should easily find a 13-14 gt in that price range.

I'd say, go ahead and install the parts that you have in your sig as "awaiting install" and then decide if you still wish to trade for the inferior platform.

If after that, you still want all the techy new features, then you might best consider a S550 gt (if you can get past the "awkward" looks of that car).

You've lost your mind.

Besides tech what else are you seeking? I had two coyotes and they are fun up top but lack TQ for sure. I think your crazy personally, your going to miss the whine of the S/C. To this day I miss it!

I wasn't even going to login, but GT500 or GT? How is that even a consideration?

They're aren't even in the same category as far as power and uniqueness.

You want "new" get new.
You want SVT... well..

I don’t blame him. 05 - 09 cars are disgusting to look at.

Between the GT500 and Coyote, I would take a Coyote.

You can make a Coyote strong and fast. You can’t make an early S197 look good.

And you cant make a TERMI run more than 68 miles if you were only blessed with 16 brain cells.

Such is life!

Although I agree that the 05-09 cars are not lookers, the big exception is the Shelbys. I think they look great.

Same as with the S550s, I dont like their looks either, with the big exception of the Shelbys.
