It would never come out at $60k or less, I guarantee it.

I also guarantee, that everyone that owns a GT350(R) will want the new GT500 as it will be a GT350(R) on speed.

Yep, pretty much...

Perhaps. I can afford to drive pretty much whatever I want, doesn't mean I'm devoid of the concept of value. I can afford an R, just didn't see the value in the extra cash and certainly not when I'd have to hire a unicorn hunter to find the trim/color I wanted.

So you think Ford is going to offer the GT500 as you've described for LESS than the MSRP of a 350(R)? Unlikely. And if that's not the case, then the value of the base 350s will be fine. It'll probably murder the R guys who paid $10k over MSRP.

Part of the reason GT350 guys haven't all dumped their 350s in favor of the R is because the price delta has remained. Adding a blower will move that calculous a bit, but again, it's going to be hard for anyone to justify $20k+ price delta just to dump their cars at a huge loss. Even if there's people with more money than brains.

I think ford will be offering the new GT500 in the mid to high 60s. And then there will be the dealer mark up. Lol

Voo Doo is not made for boost. I question the long term reliability of a FI'ed voo doo.

Who said the GT500 will be offered for less than the MSRP of a GT350R? Not me.

I think it will have a BASE MSRP of $70k and will touch close to $80k.

guess we will find out soon, plenty of folks trying to find out

I believe the problem is that we wont actually find out soon. Most of the guys that have boosted voo doos are not putting a substantial amount of miles on them. Id like to see how a voo doo car holds up at 8+ lbs of boost for 50k miles.

We could delve into the boost debate in this thread...but there's no data to suggest either way. The voodoo's have 12:1 compression which in my opinion is the biggest issue, but as we've seen on countless vette's over the years that run 6-8 psi with no issues, that's not necessarily a total obstacle to FI.

Granted, the compression isn't going to allow someone to boost to levels that a built motor with 9.5:1 would, but it doesn't mean that they don't like boost or can't be boosted.

As I said in a different thread, with the advent of E85, it makes boosting in scenarios like the voodoo even safer with more access (rather than having to tune to race fuel).

I'd be more concerned about the harmonics and the balance of the engine than boost/torque and the stress of torqueing on the snout for the blower pulley tension.

And I don't think the drive train is necessarily equipped to handle more than what 8 lbs of boost could send out of the motor. It's not a solid axle car with a bullet proof T56.

I guess what I'm saying is time will tell. I plan on throwing a whipple on mine, but detuned to probably 700 rwhp maximum with an e85 tune. Anything more than that is useless with street tires for a turning car. I'm not trying to set any drag records or be the fastest from a ricer roll....the best thing about the whipple is that it will improve the torque to 500+ ft-lb from 2800 rpms all the way to redline. And that's on a fat/safe E-85 tune.

Anyone wanting to make the GT350 into some drag strip titan is starting with the wrong platform. I'm completely and utterly okay admitting that.

i am wanting to try almost exactly what you're saying. although i admit i was a little bummed to see the 3160 rated at 425tq.

Not every GT350R owner.

So, why are you wanting to boost it? The only people that feel the GT350 is "underpowered" are the ones who want to drag/stoplight race and/or do ricer rolls. Otherwise, why screw up the characteristics of the car?

I don't think that is correct, considering that the Voodoo is rated at 429 lbs/ft. Highly unlikely that Ford would use a transmission that is exactly at or slightly less than the torque output of the engine attached to it. That transmission wouldn't live long at all.

I want more torque. If that "screws up the characteristics" of the car, so be it. The car weighs nearly 3800 lbs and for street driving, it's fun, but I don't always like to live 4k rpms and above. If I can do it safely without endangering the powertrain, then adding a few lbs of boost for much needed torque. Looking at the torque curves for the stock vs. typical whippled dyno sheets I've seen, the biggest advantage of the twin screw is having stock max torque at a much lower rpm and maintaining it through a very fat long duration of the rpm range.

I'm not alone. If you like the car the way it is...hats off to you. I'm personally going to want more eventually and that's why we have an entire aftermarket of blower and turbo manufacturers, tuners, etc, to increase performance of cars to suit the needs/desires of consumers who are happy but want more.

I would say that not only am I NOT alone, but there's a good number of people out there that would love a GT500 with most/nearly all of the handling characteristics of the 350 but the torque and bigger power of the blown 500 motors. The ZL1 is a perfect example of where the pony cars are going. I don't really care for the 10 speed auto, but just as turns and stops are part of a track sequence, so too are apexes and straightaways.

i see what you're saying, but that's the only info i've found on the 3160. some ratings are even lower

I’d there’s something this subforum likes to argue about it’s what the value of these cars is and whether or not owners should try to make them GT500s :D

Ford has had a GT350 (by another name) and a GT500 for sale at the same time and they both did well. There are buyers for both. How many wanted an IRS GT500 vs a GT350, we will find out if/when the next GT500 drops.

Think about how many FI Boss 302s you've seen though.

I have no idea what you’re getting at. LSs had big ADMs and the GT500 did most of production run too.

If your point is they might have sold less GT350Rs if a new GT500 was out, maybe. I don’t care enough to go look up prod numbers and compare.

There is a market for both. I personally doubt most demand would be for a GT500.

No I'm not saying that at all.

I'm saying that in years past when Ford was selling the GT500 along side with the Boss 302, plenty of people put prochargers, TT, etc on the Boss 302.

Ford will sell every single R allocation, just like they will sell every single GT500 allocation.
