What a thing of absolute beauty. I've seen about 4 in person and each time I'm in complete awe over their existence.

A concours ready example of that car should pull six figures easily, at auction.

Hell a basket case is worth 6 figures.

OP if the owner was just going to sell it I wonder why he cleaned it up at all? With an original low mileage car like that sometimes it's better to sell it just as it sits. Wish I had the money! My dream car since I was a kid. Red is my least favorite color but still bad ass.

Very few.
There was a mostly original black '69 barn find a couple years back, in worse condition, with almost the same miles.

I believe that same car was sold at auction on an episode of "What's My Car Worth". I don't remember what it sold for though.
I looked at the location of this article because I remember when I worked cobtruction after highschool there was an excavation yard I drove by all the time and they usually had a few classic Mustangs projects in the yard. You could tell they had money and just liked to restore cars. But one day I drove by and on a trailer in front of their garage, like the one shown in the article, was a black 69 Boss 429 along with another valuable Mustang, but I can't remember because the Boss 9 was the only one that mattered to me; probably a Mach 1. It looked like it had come out of a very long hibernation and was going to be woken up. I want to say I remember hearing about it later on at an auction based on the location of origin, verifying it was a real Boss 429.

I always think about what a force they would have been if Ford really let the 429 loose from the factory.

I disagree. When we picked up the car we didn't know if the engine was locked up, tires were in bad shape, rear brakes were froze up, interior had some mildew, and of course the paint needed a good buffing. Now the car runs flawless, brakes work great, it's a quality driver. The condition of the interior and paint is show quality. And extreme caution was taken to ensure the originally of the car! I believe at least $100k has been added to the value of the car in its current state.

The car will bring big money for sure but there are buyers who will pay top money for an untouched original car. It's all the rage now with collectors. I'm sure he'll be happy with the money it brings regardless.

Awesome car. Thanks for sharing. Prices for truly original cars like this one are in another league compared to cars restored to concours status. I'd expect this car to sell for $100k OVER what a concours restoration Boss 9 would bring. With the big fees the auctions charge he may be better off selling privately. If you can share more pics that would be awesome. Thanks again and good luck to your friend!

Also - if possible, feel free to PM me what the owner is asking. I can forward the info to a friend of mine who is a serious collector. Thanks again.

I’ve only seen 3 In person.

A 69/70 pair in a collector/museum out in South Dakota,

And a Grabber Blue ‘70 getting loaded after the Labor Day auction where it didn’t sell in auburn.

Wild cars.

We had a 40k mile Boss 302 on the rack in my child hood garage for years. I grew up playing in that car, honking the horn, and spinning the clock knob on the passenger dashboard. Good memories. I miss that car.

That thing is beautiful though. I always loved them in the yellow

I've seen that (as-found interior and exterior but air in the tires and able to roll) with cars from the 20s and 30s, but less with cars from the 60s/70s. And even that is with a good vacuum and dust-off; not just a massive rolling dirtball. As long as the parts are original, being clean will bring far more money for this Boss.

If this was a Duesenburg or Rolls or Talbot-Lago or something pre-WWII, then being as found would bring more money.
