This year I'm planning on switching from Corbeau FX1 Pro seats with the Corbeau 99-04 Mustang specific base mounts & sliders to a fixed mount, halo seat to also be used with a HNR system. I'm concerned about overall seating height. For reference, the Corbeau seats with the mounts and slider brackets put me approximately at the same seating height as the stock seats IIRC. That would be ok, but I certainly wouldn't want to go any higher. I have a convertible with a 4pt rollbar and I'm 5' 11" and just barely pass the "broomstick" test.
With that in mind, my thought is a 99-04 Mustang specific base (like the one's made by Planted Technology), plus seat mfr-specific side mount brackets at the lowest setting should not raise the overall seating height more than stock, but I suppose it all depends on the seat mfr. and/or bottom seat padding thickness.
Seats I've tried out and like are the OMP HTE-R and a Cobra Evolution Pro Fit, but I'm also considering a Sparco Circuit, Sparco Pro ADV or possibly a GP Race.
Does anyone have any first hand experience with fixed mount bases used with side brackets and what that did to their seating height? Did you have to go the custom mount/bracket route or make modifications?
