If it's a weekend toy and you're willing to accept the possibility of gremlins then that's a hard price to pass on. You also have to be prepared to hold on to it for a long time because it will be difficult to sell if you want to dump it in two years.

I would take it to a reputable shop and have them look at the undercarriage and suspension for rust. Also under the dash, circuit boards and all that for signs of water damage. If all that seems ok and the windows don't roll down when you change the radio station, then f it. I plan to buy one in the near future and if all the above checked out ok, I'd probably go for it.

Generally there will be a layer of silt at the highest water level. Check in areas where they wouldn’t have cleaned like ledges/bolt heads under the dash.

It was from Houston says rain water,,ever thing works also, thanks for all the replys

Not trying to steer you one way or the other, but just so you aren’t surprised later, there was raw sewage mixed in with that water.

Maybe try and find out where the last owner lived; might be able to research how deep it actually was. No telling where the car was when it happened but it might lend some support to his wheels only depth story.

I would imagine a good bit of the wiring was submerged. The mechanical stuff I wouldn't worry about. It's the electrical stuff that what would scare me. The water in Houston didn't drain off in a day either. I would want to inspect it pretty closely before handing over any cash.

Is this the car that Doug Pope is trying to sell, its been on facebook multiple times, and everyone laughs at his trying to sell it for mid-high 20s for a car that was under water.

Personally I would want it to be sub 20k, reason being I think the wiring will likely need to be replaced at some point, and you will have a hell of a time selling it private party. If its the same one its been for sale for a while.

this one? He refused to post a video of the car running with all the lights and blinkers working. Says he put less than 100 miles on it.

OP says it has recaros and nav so its probably not the one in your warning @sleek98 .

Id pull a door panel off as well as pull out the carpet in the trunk check for water level indicators. Flood cars are the worst for gremlins. Sometimes you get lucky and it really wasn't as bad as you think, sometimes its a never ending problem with corrosion in your electrical. MOST wiring in manual mustangs is similar. Body side engine harness and a body electrical harness if your lucky. Corrosion of the SRS systems is a damn PITA, and those components are NOT cheap.

Will be hard to sell down the road so this has to be the one to take a chance, IMO.

Id absolutely demand a prebuy inspection and look under the car.

If its a salvage title, it absolutely had water go farther than just the middle of the wheels.

This. It's all about the electronics. Be prepared to put in multiple wiring harness (connections are the crux) and multiple computers that the car has on-board. Friend of mine bought a truck like this, and to get all the gremlins out, this is what he had too do.

I agree with the electrical concerns. Mechanical wouldn't bother me. Either it runs or doesn't. Worse case scenario, you are replacing harnesses and electric components.
