Hello, hoping to get some help on an issue I have been having with my car.

Starting a few months ago, I have been getting a gear whine/bearing type noise, mainly in 5th or 6th gear, and much louder on deceleration. I took it to a shop that is very familiar with Mustangs, and they thought it was in the rear end. Well I had my rear end rebuilt and the noise is still there.

Could it be the center carrier bearing in my driveshaft? Not sure what else it could be other than a bearing in the transmission.

Thanks for the help!

Sounds like misdiagnosis on their part. I'd go back and tell them they guessed wrong.
I've never heard of the hanger bearing being an issue on these cars but it could possibly be that.
Automatic or manual?

In case anyone is having a similar issue, it was the bushing in my upper control arm and differential bushing were damaged and transferring noise.

Hey man. Thanks for following up with the correct diagnosis and solution. Question, did you have any other noises in the rear suspension like during normal driving, like city driving? I have always had whining rear end gears but this one trip I made recently to NY from MD I got a lot more noise and it sounded so different at highway speeds. Also have popping noises in rear suspension city driving, worse when cold. Thanks
