I know I should have purchased this a long time ago, like 5 years ago. But I was waiting for the price drop with HELM.

Has anybody else noticed that you cannot by the Shop Manual CD from HELM anymore? It links you to Fords Service subscription site which is completely not on this planet for the cost.

If anybody is interested go on eBay fast there are only a handful of the CD’s left. I just picked one up for like $220. That is a freakin deal compared to the thousands Ford wants now to subscribe. Or the hundreds by the hour. Crazy.

I just picked up a subscription to AllDataDIY its like 35 bucks for 5 years I think. They send out coupons all the time to me now. I actually have 3 different vehicles on there. I paid 15 bucks for 1 year to add the last vehicle.

I'm intrigued by this. How complete and good is the info?

So far it has had everything I have looked for. Has complete wiring diagrams by system, by connector #, gives the location, has the R&R manuals for everything I have looked into so far. I like it since it gives the tq values on everything.

I originally got it for the wiring diagrams to do the auto swap on my car, but I have used it for a ton of other items since then. Also gives you part numbers and book hours for replaceable parts. It has a search feature so you can search say "crank pulley" then it pulls up "harmonic Balancer" and gives you the following screen. The top one is the exploded view, the next link is step by step instructions for R&R, the next is the part number, price and hours to do the job, the bottom link is the specs on tightening the bolt.

It gives you maintenance info such as alignment specs, fluid type and capacity etc.

Some times you have to look in a couple places to get the full procedures, for example to get the step by step for doing cams and timing the motor you have to look in timing cover for part of it, then timing components for the actual timing mark locations, then the camshaft parts in are the camshaft section. BTW it quotes 17.9 hours to replace both camshafts.

To me its worth the 35 bucks to have the tq values alone since I am horrible about over tightening bolts. That is actually why I have 3 cars in there now, I replaced a water pump on a ford freestyle for a friend of my wifes. It was worth 15 bucks to me to make sure I got the cam bolt to the correct spec, and she was just happy to not pay the 800 that the shops wanted. When the motorcraft pump was only 250 from rock auto.

The search feature on the Helm program is like from Windows 95. It is not in any way intuitive and you have to really think out your search word. It is also on Windows only, no Mac.

Is the AlldateDIY a website?
