Finished my engine bay this weekend. I went all out with the car this year "no part untouched, built 5.3, 2.9 whipple crusher, ported heads comp 3 cams etc etc." I could not stand the holes everywhere in the factory panels so decided to go this route.

I have never done any real body wok before in my life. With the help and guidance of two of my close friends were able to make it happen.

I chose to weld the panels in. I do not like the looks of riveted panels and I did not want to use panel bond.

Here she is. I still have to do some wet sanding to get rid of some orange flake and then the final buff / polish.

My images uploaded out of order :-( but you get the idea

It was a pain in the a$$... I have a new respect for anyone who does quality body work after doing this project.

Great job! Truer words have never been spoken. It's hard to get perspective on just how hard it is to get a good paint job unless you have actually done it yourself. Lot of hard physical work goes into the prep, but the end results are definitely worth it.............

I hate prep (necessary evil), but love to spray LOL.

Kodos to your friends for helping you, but you deserve a lot of credit for the level of work you yourself did. You did an awesome job. Your engine pieces are looking really good, so I'm sure when the engine is installed it is going to really POP! Again, well done Aaron!

Thanks Bob. I cant express how lucky I am to have friends that are so highly skilled and willing to spend so many hours helping me with this build.
I have spent countless hours working on this car, but none of it would be possible without the help I have received from them.
One of my close friends who has spent crazy amounts of time on the car with me is actually a member of this forum "flat rate mechanic". Maybe he will chime in on here.
I also owe a big thanks to his girlfriend Terry who spent an entire saturday sanding for me while I went and bought my whipple lol
