So I recently, received my custom ordered aftermarket '02 Cobra fascia. This will be go onto my '03 Cobra soon.

Today I attempted a test fit, but it seems that in order for the fascia to mount correctly and have the "'roo lights" fit, I'll have to remove the foam bumper support.

My question is, how vital is the foam support? If necessary I can try to remove pieces of it to facilitate better mounting, but it seems like removing it completely would be the simpler option.

So, as it turns out, this fascia is too short to fit either way. The mount points for the lower plastic rivets will fit or the ones on top of the posts on either side if the grill will, not both. Seems there are subtle, but distinct structural differences between the New Edge Cobras and the Terminators. I imagine the inclusion of a heat exchanger plays a part in that. Also the spacing doesn't seem to allow for mounting of the 'roo lights either.

Attempts to gentle manipulate the fascia to align caused it to want to distort. The only other option would be to cut the actual metal bumper, which I'm hesitant to do.

Great, now I'll have to come up with a Plan B.

I was really hoping to have a nice '02 Cobra look, it's one of the last "unique" OEM appearences for a New Edge left.

I may entertain the idea of mounting the 'roo lights into my stock '03 fascia, a sort of hybrid design. A "what if" Terminators were sold in OZ kind of thing.

I dont like the idea of having spent my cash and not getting something out of it.

$600 including shipping. I'm still contemplating trying to finesse it into place. Some trimming of the underside may allow clearance of the HE. But I'm not sure. Ill take a look again in a few days. I didn't have a whole lot of time the first time I tried to test fit it.

Ive got a friend in AUS. I need to message him for a pic of what support behind his looks like with the fascia removed.

Be REALLY sure you want to starting modifying hardware on the car before you do a force-fit mount. I understand you're looking for a unique look, but there might be other easier ways to give your ride the unique look. JMO.

I have access to a pretty capable metal fabricator. So cutting the bumper and going to a custom bumper support isn't the end of the world here. It does indeed add an additional layer of complexity I would rather not deal with, but it is one that is manageable.

We'll see though. I messaged my friend in AUS, he'll send pics, with his '02's fascia removed, in the next couple days for comparison.

2002[edit]
Although many enthusiasts believe there were no 2002 Cobras, approximately 100 vehicles were partially built in the USA and shipped to Australia[242] for right-hand-drive conversion and final assembly by Ford Tickford Experience (FTE). The vehicles were based on the 2001-spec SVT Cobra.[243] Other changes included additional driving lights in the lower front fascia to meet Australian lighting specifications, and the steering wheel was moved to the right side of the car. This was part of a A$4 million program by Ford Australia[244] to combat the rival Holden Monaro, which eventually formed the basis of the reborn 2004–2006 Pontiac GTO in the U.S.

The 02 Cobra front bumper always looked like a "driveway mod" with the placement of those lights.
