The true reason it is not revealed yet... Ford still needs to sell the remaining 350’s. I talked to a sales manager I have become friends with at a local dealer near me. The 350’s have been harder and harder to sell in 2017 and the markup keeps going down and down, used to get 12k over now struggling to get 2 over msrp. The R is the only one getting mark ups and used to sell within a week and the last one they had for 5 months... us as clients are holding off for the next latest and greatest without even seeing real pics or stats of it. ( besides that little teaser vid) the car will hold off while the 350’s still have value to them. At Barrett Jackson scottsdle last week I went this past Saturday and there was bulllitt #1 and full display of the current 350’s NOTHING even at all of the 500.

It’s- A, buildup and B, need to sell the current Shelby produced.

You don't know how it works, neither does your friendly salesmanager.

Ford Motor Company doesn't withhold anything to sell current model year vehicles. Once cars arrive on lots, dealerships own them; they either floorplan them or pay them off. Ford is all about sales numbers, but they couldn't care less if the cars sit there a week or 10 months.

hmmm, how is it not true the current 350's are not selling as quickly and as marked up as they were before? Isn't this the reason they are making less of them in 2018? Sounds like it makes sense to me.. people are holding off for big brother. Pretty logical honestly.

You must not have read my post. I would re-read it.

Ford doesn’t care if the cars aren’t selling as quickly as they no longer own them, the dealerships do. As @13COBRA told you....

Sure but isn’t it the dealerships that order them? So if they have 3 on a lot now and have been sitting for months you think there going to order more of them? There usually allowed like 5 a year or something. And the orders won’t be filled.

So yes I get your point 100% but it’s the dealers that order the cars. And the dealers are not gonna buy more of the same car they are having trouble selling.

The manager you know is probably a great guy that loves his family, saluted the flag, helps his neighbors, and takes responsibility for his actions.

Nothing against this guy personally. That all said, I think he’s wrong on this assessment for 2 reasons.

1. Any dealership knows you have to have hot cars on site. To make his claim valid, most dealerships that have over stock gt350/r’s would have to be in unison telling Ford we won’t buy your new gt500 yet so don’t bother. Never gonna happen. They want that car very badly because it’ll be the next hot thing on lot. This means gt500’s and anything else that catches a potential customers eyes have have incontrovertibly higher chances to sell.

2. Ford treats its dealer networks well, and the gt350’s are hot, and sell very well. This car still sells at a premium everyday even being 3 years old. This contradicts your friends assessment. Time on lot for a gt350 is very low compared to cars like Camaro, or Challenger.

AGAIN, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Dealerships are not guaranteed 5 a year. Every dealer that signed up for the program were guaranteed 1. One. Uno. Un. Ein. After that, their allocation was based on Mustang/GT350 sales.

A dealer's allocation isn't based off of their current inventory as much as you'd think, it has more to do with the previous model year, the previous 120 day roll, and if you ask for supplemental allocation.

With your train of thought, dealers would not order Taurus, or Transit Connects, as they are both very slow movers on the new car side. The manufacturer has quite a bit more say in forcing inventory to dealerships than 99% of the public understand or care to understand.

For instance, this week I have 2 Expeditions that are going to get scheduled. I'd really like to order one Platinum and one Limited as that fits are customer base the best and sells quicker; however this week Ford has a limited constraint on the 20" wheels, therefore they are forcing me to order 2 XLTs.

To make yourself look more intelligent than you have in your previous few posts, your reply should be "Oh gotcha, I had no idea. Thanks for clearing that up!"

This thread kind of reminds me of when I have to manage millennials in the office.

Even when the facts, evidence and sound theory are presented they still question it.

Speaking of, I just came from the auto show and a lot boy rapping Ford was adamant that the GT500 motor would be a TT ecoboost 5.0. Anyone think there is truth to this?

None because on the other thread I posted a video of a Ford rep confirming a 5.2L CPC Supercharged motor for the GT500.
