What’s everyone’s opinion on who the best engine builder is? I’m going to be building my engine soon and want to make sure it’s in the best hands. The goal is to hit 850 - 1,000 hp with the new Gen 3 TVS on E85.

How much are you willing to spend? I had Tony Bischoff from BES Racing build my engine. He is good but expensive. He built Phil Hines engine if that helps and it is one fast car.

I don’t want to go over the top with the build. Just something that can handle the power. I’ve seen engine builds from 5k - 20k. For the engine build alone I’d like to stay around the lower end. The total rebuild will likey be around 20k.

I have a little under 10 in mine. I was in the same boat as you. I remember Livernois reaching out to me when I posted the same question as you. They quoted me like 24,000! So, I called around to a few places and went with Tony because he wasn’t trying to up-sell me on everything. In the end, BES wasn’t the cheapest and not the most expensive out of the bunch, but I had confidence in them, and their work speaks for itself. You should at least give them a call.

plain on spending $7500 on a decent engine build and then triple that to complete ur car. Best rule of thumb in my experience.

I had one quote for around that. Then after deciding to g with head studs and going thru the heads, it came out to a little under 10,000

Yea I was gonna say without any head or valve train work it will be that but once u start modifying heads, valve springs etc.... it will be closer to $10k. aint nothing cheap bro and their in no cheap route.... just cheaper lol.

It could’ve been cheaper, but I had a set of stage 2 comp cams installed as well. And they aren’t cheap! Lol

What ever you do absolutely stay away from wonder racing out of pa. L&M are good and have heard nothing but good from but i don't have any personal experience with them.

What’s everyone’s opinion on who the best engine builder is? I’m going to be building my engine soon and want to make sure it’s in the best hands. The goal is to hit 850 - 1,000 hp with the new Gen 3 TVS on E85.
What's your location?
When possible, stay somewhat local.
