I'm just curious what brand of fuel that you trust/prefer when you're running the most boost you can for the available octane in your area. I'm talking about street applications on pump gas; 91 octane, 93 octane, or E85.

I live In CA and my choice for 91 octane is chevron 91. My 2nd choice is shell 91. With E85 it doesn't matter as there is only 2 choices in Norcal and both are always E80+ some times as high as E92

All the gas around me comes from the same rack, so I just go to a station that moves a lot of gallons. Mobil usually.

I had knock activity when logging on Sunoco 93 and GetGo 93. I tried Sheetz 93 and no knock so that’s where I fill now.

Interesting; thanks for the info. There is a Sunoco station here and a friend of mine ran a couple of tanks through an old T-bird Supercoupe...he had the same experience that you did.

I voted Shell for the Vpower 93 but if you have a Sunoco around you that has the high octane I would probably get that over Vpower

Just get a drum of C16 from VP and call it a day. If you predetonate with that on a stock, or mildly modded Cobra something is wrong.

I use Exxon/Mobil gas exclusively for the truck and the Mustang.
89 octane for the truck and 93 octane for the Mustang.

I asked my tuner and was told the difference is typically “branded” stations add cleaners etc. and that some of those additives slightly dropped octane. Named shell specifically. I typically use a clean generic station and often add royal purple or vp booster

I haven't had my car running up long enough to lean toward one fuel brand, BUT for what it's worth, i will probably stay away from Sunoco fuel. The reason for this is because I use to run Sunoco 89 octane only in my daily. Since I moved to Orlando it was easier for me to pump at a Shell station on my way home. When i would run Sunoco 89 i would average 28mpg, when i started to use Shell 89 my mpg went up to 30.5. I would switch over to Sunoco from the same station i used to pump at when i would go visit my parents and my mpg would always drop. I then tried a BP and Chevron near that same Sunoco and saw about the same mpg as the Shell. So i suspect Sunoco uses a little more ethanol than the gas stations i mentioned.
