I forgot to ask how’s the shine compared to carnuba wax or a sealant? I’ve heard for show cars, it’s better to use those products over a coating

I have 2 cans of Wolfgang Fusion that I need to use. Even though wax won’t stick, would applying this over a coating make it look better?

The shine is incredible. Blows carnuba wax away.

If you plan on coating your car you can throw the Wolfgang stuff away unless you have other uncoated vehicles to use it on. It will not stick therefore adding no shine.

It’s hard to increase the shine but to maintain the coating you can use products like carpro reload or ceramic pro sport. Both of them will restore the original gloss of the coating, however this is once a year ceramic “maintainance”. You can also use waterless washes that contain silica or sio2 after you fully wash the vehicle.

The key to maintaining/longevity of your coating is proper washing techniques. Proper pre rinse and good soap that contains silica or sio2 will keep your coating lasting a long time.

This is my daily. Has been coated close to a year and still looks like the day I coated it.

I pre rinse with a pressure washer then soap it up. Most of the dirt on the truck flies off. Soap and a light scrub with a nice microfiber mitt bring the car back to a freshly coated look.

Ease of maintenance is the number on selling point for me.

I have this behemoth cleaned in about an hour and a half. That’s both inside and out. (Interior leather is coated as well). Makes my life a lot easier as time is very precious with the busy schedules most of us have.

How does Ceramic hold up to daily road debris and can it help stop tiny paint chips? Vs using a clear vinyl product like Xpel lets say.

It is just straight amazing when talking about ease of maintenance/daily road debris/dirt/etc. They are self cleaning to a degree, extremely hydrophobic and make maintenance a dream.

NO, ceramic coatings will not prevent paint chips.

I'm getting ready to apply CQuartz UK after a lot of research.

The pro-level coatings are nice, I would think, if you had a garage queen that wasn't out in the elements very often, or if the color wasn't something that showed swirls easily like black.

But if you daily drove the car or you did have a darker color that showed swirls easier, that's where the cost of the pro-level coating doesn't really fall in line with the performance (for me.)

Say if I had a black car and paid the 2k for a pro-level coating. Then after a year of washing and driving I notice swirl marks... I'm going to want to polish those out and once I polish them out my coating is down the drain and I would have to pay another 2k to get it done again.

I like the idea of CQuartz UK as it's supposed to last at least a year (the company claims more, but from real-world reviews it seems to last about a year) and that would be a good timeframe, I would think, for it to last since you'll likely want to polish after a year... that is if you're picky about your car (I am).
The 2k gets you a lifetime warranty. They have several levels of coverage. If you only get a year for 2 k you overpaid.

Any tips for a first time coater? Ive been detailing for years and usually have used sealant but I got some Cquartz for christmas and want to start ceramic coating. I plan to polish the paint to perfection, spray down with CarPro eraser and then coat! Am i missing anything? Any other tips?

You are good to go. That’s everything. If you are using cquartz I would apply 2 layers of coating and then top it with reload about an hour after you are done coating.

I came up from ny to see your silver vert that you had for sale a while back and complemented your work. Your corrections look great so you should have no problem. Good luck!!!

Ceramic sounds like the ticket, but that sticker shock is killing me. How is it actually applied - similar to applying wax?
