Cobra Brake upgrade

Considering swapping my GT front brakes to the Cobras. Before I do, I have a few questions...

1) Is it worth it? I am making over 700whp, I need to be able to stop at the track, and the GT brakes just aren't cutting it, even tho they are relatively new which leads me to my next questions...

2) Would changing my stock brake lines be a noticeable difference since I have relatively new pads and rotors? Brake pedal requires a lot of force, so I am also thinking if I were to just change the lines it could help with that mushy pedal and would increase stopping power. I don't want to drop $600 if all I need are new lines.

3) If I were to go with the Cobra swap, would piecing it together be cheaper than buying a kit say from LMR?

Advice and opinions welcomed!

Thanks.

Cobra brakes will be an improvement, but tbh I'm at 620whp, and my brakes are anything to write home about. I'm looking into a bigger caliper setup for more stopping ability.

I'd upgrade the fluid and look at some BBKs. The frontrunners on your car arent going to help with stopping either unfortunately.

Basically, if I were you and going to upgrade, I would get a BBK to make it worth the time / effort.

I put the lmr front and rear cobra brake kits on both my sons 03 GT and my 04 GT. I also replaced the brake fluid with DOT4. Both cars stop extremely well and are like night and day compared to the stock brakes. Very firm pedals. The only downside is that the pads that the kits come with throw off a ton of dust and will turn chrome wheels black in a week of daily driving.

Piecing together the caliper/pads/rotors from say auto-zone is definitely cheaper than getting a kit from LMR. That's what I did on my fronts. I ordered the SS brake lines from Maximum Motorsports too. With fluids/pads/rotors/calipers/lines and the weekend sale that autozone was having I think I did the whole job for about $300. I used calipers from a 98 Cobra. They have I believe 38mm pistons. If you used the 99-01 or Mach/Bullitt calipers they have 41mm pistons and cost a bit more than the 38's. Stopping power is much improved.

Cobra brakes are a great upgrade for the cost. SS brake lines are also a great mod. I would recommend both, unless you want to shell out more money for a brembo kit.

I did the LMR front Cobra brake kit on my car, and it's a dramatic improvement for the money... especially with a discount code.

I went with the brembos over the cobras. Made more sense for me money wise.
By the time I got the cobra calipers, paint and rebuild, new rotors, pads, and lines it ended up being a few hundred dollars difference.
Brembo kit comes with some really nice rotors, pads, and SS lines.

Also I got a $100 rebate through summit on eBay.
