Went to the “new” this Saturday morning to clean out my dads new boat. The exterior pic is a close twin to what his is. It’s an egg harbor 41 that just had an extensive refit. Brand new twin 440 yanmars entire new electrical package and refit interior. Couldn’t get any decent pics of the exterior it’s still in the wrapper. splashing it early May and going for the sea trials. She’s an older boat but she’s been really well cared for a it’s built like a tank.

On the list for next winter is a haul out and exterior refit. Palm beach helm, Frameless windows, extending the flybridge and complete hull and house awl grip.

I really like these older boats that are well maintained and modernized with a reliable and efficient engine and electronics package.

U.S. Third Fleet aircraft carriers at anchor in Ulithi Atoll, 8 December 1944, during a break from operations in the Philippines area. The carriers are (from front to back): USS Wasp (CV-1, USS Yorktown (CV-10), USS Hornet (CV-12), USS Hancock (CV-19) and USS Ticonderoga (CV-14). Wasp, Yorktown and Ticonderoga are all painted in camouflage Measure 33, Design 10a. The other Essex-class carrier painted in sea blue Measure 21 is USS Lexington (CV-16).

My dad was the radio operator on board a destroyer (USS Woodworth, DD-460) in that battle group (Task Force38).

Harbor next to my resort this week.
Cruz Bay, USVI.

They took a direct hit from a Cat 5 hurricane a couple of months ago. They said this area had winds measured at 220+ mph before the gauges broke. When I get home I create a damage picture thread. Today I saw a metal water tower that had the metal vessel bent. They lost 95% of the boats on the island.

There’s an old merrit in Newport Near my parents with 8v92’s. Old motors but the boat will haul ass for a 40 year old sportfish. 50’ and pretty light. 1500 hp between the two of them and they sound awesome. The captain keeps it insanely clean.

Crazy engine setup, just searched for a vid, I had no idea those are the same Allisons as in a P-38 Lightning! I'm a bit unfamiliar with boating in general, but the maintenance & upkeep of a vintage show/powerboat must be staggering.

Lifted this from their page, these guys still run a recip Allison with twin turbos in unlimited.

Apparently turbines are getting scarce for boating since the oil fields are busy.
May have a run on piston powered boats again. If you can watch one of these races in person do it!
