Just wondering if the machined factory Cobra wheels were an option in 2004? I always thought it was chrome only for that year but I was told that machined was actually an option in 04'. Amyone know?

Yes. Machined was standard/base, chrome was the option.

Yeah, they only had like three total options both years. Chrome wheels, spoiler delete and 03 anniversary/mystichrome. And you could always order a front plate if your state didn’t mandate one. I think that was it.

Also, Coupe or Convertible, and in 03 Parchment or Grey seats and in 04, Dark or Grey Seats.

I thought floor mats also may of been an option. I can't remember it was so many years ago.

I believe the correct answer is no, they were not an "option", they were the standard equipment.
This.

The only option I was aware of for '04 was the Mach 1000 sound system and spoiler delete. Chrome wheels was standard equipment.

all three of you guys are wrong.

well... I think you are right(*).

Looks like the only option for 2003 that I can find was the spoiler delete.

For 2004, the options were spoiler delete, chrome wheels, or Mistychrome package (which included the chrome wheels).

But combine that information with the fact that (assumed '03 based on username) #03cobra#694 was able to order Chrome wheels and we have a known discrepancy.

I did a search for '04 window stickers - and the ones I could find either had the Mystichrome package or had the chrome wheels option listed. I am now in doubt, but I really still think all '04s had chrome wheels from the factory.

By 04 most dealers ordered in chrome wheel cars for the lots. They “looked” and sold better. If I remember right there may have been a supplier issue on the wheels too causing machined to be more common early on in 03 production. That may just be an old rumor that I heard back i the day too.

Just saying when I ordered mine, a cobra was a cobra for the most part. It already had everything Ford was going to offer on it. Excluding paint, coupe/vert and two interior choices, there weren’t very many options because it was already the top of the line. And you knew it only came in manual. You had wheel choices, delete spoiler, and anniversary(03) with tenth wheels, mystichrome with chrome wheels (04) premium package options. Add in the Mach sound system option that was available to all mustangs and that was pretty much it.

I think people misunderstood my statement.
I'm saying the machined wheels were not an "option". They were the standard equipment.
The chrome wheels would be the "option" wheel.

I personally don't know of anyone who purchased an 04' that came with machined wheels nor have I ever heard of any 04' year model that came with machined wheels. Every 2004 year model that I know of had chrome wheels.

The fact remains that chrome WAS an "option." Now if dealers ordered the 2004's with chrome wheels because they sold better that makes sense. However, the dealers ordered the Cobra's with the chrome "option" and not the "standard" equipment.
