PMAS

I swear this car has never idled so well. It purrs like a kitten and seems to run through the entire RPM band better. Even the stock CAI didn't perform this well.

I have been slowly de-modding this car from long tubes to stock exhaust, from Griggs everywhere to something less, and from intakes galore to my new PMAS, and I have to say it is much more enjoyable to drive. Thumbs up to Lund for nailing this one.

I haven't logged any data yet, but in the past I always saw a knock retard of 0.5 to 1.0 and that always bothered me. I recently determined the exhaust is touching the underside of the car, and once that is fixed, I will data log again hoping the knock is false.

Just thought I would pass along the PMAS info.

Oh, the PMAS performance is great, but the plastic pile-o-@#$ they send along with it as a heat shield doesn't fit very well.

.

You can modify your stock air box to allow the PMAS to pass through it.
I did that for a FRPP 140mm MAF because I didn't like any of the aftermarket air boxes.

I agree modifing the stock box looks much cleaner than what other options are on the market.

Thanks for the info on the stock box. I have thought about modifying it but wasn't sure if everything would fit. Now I know!

Can you post a picture up of how yours looks, I'll probably be ordering my PMAS intake this week.

1 Alibi 2, that looks really good. Thanks for posting that up. My PMAS is slightly different in that it is plastic and not metal; however, the MAF housing is thick and a different type of plastic than other brands. Also my air filter has three small bolts that hold it on.

Careful not to cross thread/snap off one of those small screws. I did, but was lucky enough to be able to still mount the filter and buy an aftermarket nut to fit the screw size.
One thing I also had to do was super glue the rubber surround to the air box. Mine came off easily when installing the box, and wouldn't stay in place when I snapped it back. A tube of super glue did the trick.

The one knock I have against PMAS is the filter mounting design is pretty ridiculous. I tried to pull off the filter to clean it, and I ended up spinning one stud and snapping another. I bought a new filter and instead of locking nuts, I bought a pack of #8-32 nuts. I plan on installing one set of nuts and another on top of those as a lock nut.

Studs on the filter are too weak to handle a locking type 8-32 nut.
