MAF disconnected, no CEL ?

So yesterday I had my air intake & MAF sensor off the car during a quick detail session. I accidentally forgot to plug the MAF back in after buttoning everything else up. I drove it to a meet, good hour of driving in traffic. And I drove to work and back today. Other than one stumble taking off from a light and and one short "buck" on a one - two shift, there were zero issues, no Cel. Is this normal? I would think the car would run horrible, throw a code, etc.

Post a picture of what you had unplugged. I can't image it being drive able without the MAF plugged in. Are you sure it wasn't your IAT sensor?

It was the MAF , sensor in the MAF housing rt after the k&n filter on mine, the IAT (little 2 wire sensor) was plugged in. I'm familiar with the sensors and components which is why i posted about this, usually if the MAF is unplugged the car runs like crap or not at all. Not the case here? It did have a tune when i bought it. Could it be something in the tune?

There is a default table in the ECU for when the MAF is unplugged. It's there in case something happens and you need to get home. The car should drive normal, but I wouldn't go into boost with it like that.

That being said you should've gotten a CEL. Does the light come on before you start the car?

have you checked for a code?

even if light didn't come on it may show..

I recall reading in tests for a bad maf, disconnecting maf and it runs good is a sign of misfunctioning .

but this thread made me think..I just had my blower off to clean cooler.

I now have a strange feel or jerk just as I touch gas lightly.
it runs great and doesn't ever stall.just feels weird..I'm going to look at maf connection.I didn't remove air box.but may have unplugged it

Oddly enough, some will run as you've reported with MAF disconnected while others won't fire or barely run.

My c.e.l never comes on for anything. I ran my car with and unplugged crank sensor and unplugged coil and no light came on. But it did have codes stored

In my testing an unplugged MAF doesn't throw a check engine light right away. It took a few driving cycles to turn the light on.

Malcolm is right. You need at least two startups with a hard fault to turn on the cel. I'd be willing to bet if you scanned the system there would be at least a pending code fault stored.
