I bought a Springfield XDS9. I wanted a Shield, but they were much pricier. My next gun will likely be a Walther PPQ 9mm. Pretty awesome trigger on that gun ...
You didn't pull the trigger at the right time when S&W had their rebate last year, I got my Shield 9mm for $214. And a PPQ is too big for a carry but a nice 4" barrel 9.

The PPQ won’t be a carry weapon, but will be equipped with a threaded barrel and silencer as to not wake the wife as I kill intruders.....

Have any of the Shield guys on SVTP put the Hogue Beavertail grip on? I installed one a couple weeks ago, I only use the 8 round Mags so I got the rubberized grip tape pieces for them so their flush with the bottom of the Hogue. It's so much better I hated how thin the single stack felt...

How reliable has yours been? I havent put many rounds through mine. If it fails to fire a time or two, it's gone. Ill get a glock 42 or 43 and deal with having something much better in my pocket.

Mine has been fine so far but admittedly I haven’t shot it as much as the bodyguard. For a long time I was real picky with what I used in my weapons; usually only Speer Lawman for practice and Speer Golddots for carry. Would generally just buy in bulk online and would end up costing me the same as the cheapest local stuff outside of reloading. I of course still carry the Golddots but I have lately thrown some straight over the counter junk in them and not had any issues to speak of. Dirtier and didn’t group half worth a crap at 10-15 yards but never the less they did their job.

I have been fortunate and honestly never have had a firearm that was in good working order but had certain brands they wouldn’t run. My biggest issue is usually the factory sights aren’t lined up worth a crap. This bodyguard was the worst and I mean legitimately bad. POA was having the entire front site and a good bit into the slide above rear site but for the pricepoint I guess it is what it is. I tend to always want Trijicans put on them anyway. Can’t expect doctor brains on garbage man salary you know what I mean.

OP-it's a decision only you can make based on your experience. I suggest joining a range that also sells/rents firearms. You can shoot various makes/models/sizes/calibers and find what works best for you. I would first find a pistol that fits your hand comfortably ie: single/double stack, compact/service/full size. Also important is that it has a size where you can manage the recoil and repeatedly shoot small groups of Hammer 2's, 3's, and 4's. Putting multiple rounds down range quickly and on target is the most important aspect of your choice. Once you find the right pistol for you, then you can address the concealment aspect.

If anyone does carry or is interested in carrying AIWB, I highly recommend TucTite holsters. Their Annex Appendix is a little pricey, and the turn around time from order to delivery isn’t ideal, but well worth it. Well made, comfortable, and also carries a spare mag.

primarily I carry a Glock 43. but have also carry a Glock 32 and a CZ PCR with some parts from cajun gun works. Im thinking about buying a shield 45. I really like the Glock 43 and dont love how the other carry in a suit. But Im wanting something else to carry at work. I shoot the 43 well but it requires more thinking on my part then I would like. if they CZ carried better for me I dont think i would ever need another carry gun.

I'm thinking of getting rid of my M&P40C for a lighter carry gun. Anyone think I should/should not? (Thinking Glock 43, M&P Shield or Glock 26 off the top of my head. Hate stock Glock sights, though) I'd prefer to stay .40 S&W so I don't have to stock another caliber, but open to 9mm.

Started carrying my XD40SC today to see how much better, if at all, it feels for me vs the M&P. I carry everything IWB via Crossbreed holsters. Maybe the holster is my issue?
Bueller?

What is the issue you speak of? Does the pistol seem too heavy to carry? Regardless of size and weight a well made carry belt does wonders and will hold any pistol exactly where you put it.

If you’re completely set on changing pistols I would take a look at the S&W M&P 2.0 as the ergonomics will be better than your current piece while still be a familiar platform. This is especially true if you don’t like Glock sights.

I'm a thin guy so yea it has started to feel like too much weight to lug around all day. I use well made carry belts so that is not the issue. Not interested in going to another M&P unless they shaved the weight by a good margin. I know my XD40SC is about the same weight, but it does not feel like it. I could always just buy a used Glock with night sights ;)

You could always go with a Sig P938 extreme. Factory night sights, 9mm, 1911 platform, dead ringer of a shooting pistol and is 16oz compared to your M&P at 24.9oz. The P938 can be had pre-owned for $500-550.

Have you shot the P938? I don’t own any other Sig for that particular reason and the P938 is a tack driver for me. The only other gun I would suggest is a CZ but will be heavier than your M&P.

I got my P938 brand new for $540 on GB. Been carrying it for quite a while now.

Or just go this route. Five-seveN/X300U with spare mag "appendix" setup.
